My wife and I had our 24th anniversary in this restaurant (our second visit) and we arrived half an hour early. When we got there our table was not ready and we were asked to go to the bar. We ordered drinks and appetizers while we waited. I have to constantly get up and asked when our table will be ready. We were finally seated after 45 minutes. The food was good but the service was terrible. Bad service can overpower any food no matter how delicate the meal was prepared. Our experience with Ocean Grill had a negative impact on our anniversary. If you are looking for a romantic evening with great service, this is not the place for you. There are hundreds of other places where you can have a romantic evening, great food and stellar service which this restaurant is definitely lacking.

I go to Ocean Grill all the time, mostly because a) it's convenient to where I live; b) I like fish; c) they get a good sanitary rating; and d) the quality, such as it is, is consistent. What is NOT good about OG, and I hope the manager reads this, is the staff. The people who make reservations and "greet" guests are rude and brusk, and the wait staff is terrible. Recently, I've had to wait a long time for water, and we were given a number of rolls smaller than the number of people at our table. Moreover, the place is so dark that it's almost impossible to read the menu. But I like the cooking, most of the time. Manager of the Columbus Ave OG, if you're reading this: please train your staff to be POLITE; to say thank-you and you're welcome; to smile; to greet courteously; and to say 'you're welcome' rather than 'no problem.' They act like teenagers angry at their parents.

I went to Ocean Grill last night with a friend and our daughters. There was a wait for an inside table so we sat outside. The shrimp and lobster spring rolls were delicious, as were the sushi rolls that my friend and I had for dinner. My daughter had that filet mignon and it was so soft and tender, it was like butter! And it had a wonderful flavor! We had two desserts: chocolate fondue and the molten lave cake. The lava cake didn't really have lava, but it was really yummy! I will definitely go back! I can't comment on the decor because I barely walked through the front door.

One of my most memorable dinners with a lovely lady. She suggested Ocean Grill as a frequent dinner with clients and interesting people with a passion for great food, service and decor. Went back several times on visits to "The City." Always a wonderful time. This is a place to make memories and enjoy all live has to offer.

I first experienced the Ocean Grill on a first date back in July 2009. Hands down it was the best first date I ever had. The food was spectacular. My date was generous allowing me to order both entrees that enticed me. By the time dessert arrived I was convinced I would be seeing him again. Across the street we enjoyed The Museum of Natural History and Central Park. The weather was beautiful and we cuddled on the grass. We met again once more after that and then we lost touch. Our timing just was not right. But this year in February I heard from him again. I was dating someone else, but our first date at the Ocean Grill still blazoned in my mind. I was seeing someone, but four months later we parted and I reconnected again with my best first date dude. He was very happy to hear from me, and we now are planning our next date...almost a year later, back at the Ocean Grill for the fourth of July! I'm sure it will be another exciting occasion and I am not only looking forward to this long awaited reconnection, but also to the mouth watering seafood, beverages and excellent staff this four star restaurant provides.

Went there on my birthday with some friends. We ordered the calamari and chopped salad as appetizers and it was great. I ordered the Oven Roasted Chilean Sea Bass. I thought it was excellent, but it wasn't really fullfilling. We then ordered the Molten Chocolate Cake for dessert and it was delicious. Overall, I think this is a great restaurant to go to if you haven't tried this place yet.

Excellent brunch on Saturday April 26th -- great live music --- the guitarist was phenomenal. The music provided just the right atmosphere for a light, enjoyable meal. The service was friendly and prompt. Also check out the ceiling lights.

At my first visit to New York I was staying at a near by hotel (Park 79) and I asked in the lobby for a place to have dinner. One from the staff asked if I liked seafood, and when I confirmed he recommended this place. My choice from the menu was mahi mahi, a fish I don't know from home in Denmark. Since the fish was new to me I asked the waiter what he could recommend as side dishes. I don't remember exactly what it was, but I was NOT disappointed. The beer I had was at excellent temperature and the price level was below what it would be at a similar place in Denmark. At my next visit to New York I'll be there again.

My family and I were in the mood for a hearty, satisfying meal and found this place by accident. We entered without a reservation and were seated right away. My daughter and I were so excited to see lobster bisque on the menu however when it arrived it looked and tasted more like tomato soup so our enthusiasm sooned wained. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his mahi-mahi and my cobb salad was ok (bacon was not thoroughly cooked). Restaurant was very busy and although our waitress was friendly we did not see her much. Oh, and someone mentioned about receiving muffins to go? We were not offered any. Overall I think we just picked a bad day so we may try it again but probably not anytime soon.

I've been to this place twice now, and I would go quite a bit more if it were not so far uptown. The food is absolutely amazing-- the beet and goat cheese salad is to die for, and the sea bass I had on my most recent trip was the best ever. But the service is really what puts this place on my top 5 in NYC. From the host to the waiter to the coatcheck, they seem so happy to have you dine at their restaurant. And the final touch-- a complimentary bag of muffins to enjoy the next day-- makes the culinary experience last that much longer.
