Another great meal at Ollies on 12/11. Their food is a staple for NYC. People need to realize the depth and excellent menu choices offered. Can't say enough about the scallion pancakes and pork dumplings, they're a MUST have. We tried another new dish - Pan Fried Udon Noodles with Shrimp and as the title states, it was all gone on Tuesday night, no leftovers at all. It's inexpensive and the $$ goes far here.

Dinner Competion With the Fruit Flies at Ollies Noodle Shop

We had dinner on Saturday, 11/17/12, at Ollie's Noodle Shop at West 116th St and Broadway. There was quite a battle to get the food from plate to chopsticks to mouth. The fruit flies, about 4 or 5 in number, consistently were on the attack. I am sure I enjoyed the additional protein from ingesting a few. They were really aggressive little bastards! I think I would lower the Dept. of Health rating from A to B. Another thing, the bathroom was foul. Smelled bad and lacked hot water at the tap. Pretty basic stuff that any decent restaurant should get right (if the bathrooms are dirty, what does the kitchen look like!) Food was good, service was marginally good. New plastic decor (chairs and light fixtures) were tacky.

We went back to Ollie's on Saturday 9/1 with friends who love Chinese food etc. They had preferred to go to Pig Heaven but we convinced them to try Ollie's. They were WOW'ed as they say. The soups were perfect - Udon (what taste) and Sweet and Sour (spicy). The BEST was their Scallion Pancakes, very delicious and not greasy. Our dinners were perfect and it was so much portion-wise, we ended up taking some home. The sesame chicken, moo shu vegatable and shrimp in garlic sauce etc. were excellent. Great dinner and not expensive.

My wife and I had an excellent dinner and would definetly go back and recommend this to others. Their steamed pork dumplings were delicious as an appetizer, miso soup was flavorable, and we shared two dishes - pan fried noodles with pork and the streamed chicken and mixed vegatables were tasty, fresh and the serving size was more than enough. Their "brown sauce" for the vegtables/chicken was extremely good. The waiter was very attentive and the atmosphere was pleasant. I also checked their bathrooms and they were immaculate. We had a broadway show to go to and we left very satisfied, not stuffed and no MSG/sleepy side effects. We arrived by 5 pm and were done by 6 pm and never felt rushed.

I HAVE BEEN GOING TO ALL THE OLLIE'S OVER THE YEARS AND MY FAVORITE WAS THE ONE ON 44TH ST FOR ITS FOOD AND LOCATION, SO I WAS DEVASTATED WHEN IT CLOSED. WHEN I DISCOVERED THE NEW OLLIE'S ON 42ND ST I HAD MY DOUBTS, IT WAS SMALLER NOT LOCATED AS WELL AND A DIFFERENT MENU. SO I WAS EXTREMELY HAPPY TO FIND OUT THE FOOD IS THE BEST OF THEM ALL.. START OUT WITH THE BEST SCALLION PANCAKES YOU'VE EVER TASTED, DUMPLINGS IN EITHER CHILE OR SESAME SAUCE IS GREAT, I EVEN TAKE THE SAUCE OF THE DUMPLINGS AND POUR IT OVER THE PANCAKES.. THEIR LAMB DISHES ARE S-O-O-O TENDER. FISH DISHES SPLENDID. I LOVE SPICY AND HOT DISHES, AND HERE YOU CAN GET THEM MOUTH NUMBING.. COLD NOODLES WITH SESAME DISAPPEARS IN A FLASH.. GIVE IT ALL A TRY!!

Restaurant is open--new location

No, they're not closed! The main location on W. 44th Street off of Seventh Avenue moved to 42nd Street near Ninth Avenue about a year ago.
