Wonderful service and excellent food!

Loved every moment of our meal here. I love Vietnamese food, and am often disappointed. Everything we had at Omai was delicious. And the service was really impeccable - very attentive without ever hovering. I can't wait to go back!
Overpriced! Small portions! No atmosphere!

We've been here last Friday. After reading the good reviews we thought we can't go wrong, but unfortunately it was very disappointing. We will not be back, there are so many other good places in NY (you pay the same prices at Buddakan in the Meatpacking District....so if you pay a lot you should go to one of the nice restaurants with good food). Food: Overpriced! Small plates! Lame taste! Food is totally overpriced and on the smaller side. We had the duck for $19 which was just a few pieces of duck. That's all. No vegetables, no rice (rice is extra). We also had a curry for $19 which was a very small portion and not especially tasty (taste was not bad, but it was lame). You need two entrees for one person to get satisfied. Because I am a lover of Vietnamese food we have eaten it all over the world... also in Vietnam but also many times here in New York. I must say this was the worst experience. Drinks: $11 for a small glass of vodka tonic. The mix was not good. Don't understand it because even I can mix a vodka tonic. Service: We had two waitresses. The Vietnamese waitress was very nice. The other one was very pushy and a bit rude. Restaurant: It was empty on a Friday night. Now we know why. Every other restaurant we've passed on our way was packed with people.
Good, but with so many options I would choose to explore another restaurant than go back.

1 appetizer, 2 entrees, two diet cokes, two cups of coffee and a dessert plus 20% tip was $84. Good lighting, decor was tasteful but not special. The tables are crammed together and consequently very loud as everyone is speaking louder to be heard. Tasty food. The shrimp curry with delicious sticky rice and raisins was outstanding and would be my only reason to go back. Skip dessert. The monkfish app was nicely smoky and yummy but hard to eat as served with chopsticks. Walked in without a reservation and was immediately seated despite it being Saturday night at 8. Service was decent but they brought the check without being asked while we were still sharing dessert and there were plenty of tables available.
LOTS OF ATTITUDE and NO TASTE

There is serious attitude at this place. The waiter seemed put out that we asked questions when deciding what to order. How to pronounce the name of this dish..."How would I know?". The food was mediocre for the price. One of the dishes was really bad... "You are the only one who ever complained." Not according to the reviews here or Yelp. We asked why we were charged incorrectly for an item on the menu... "Nothing is for free" says the bartender. They realize they mis-charged us but were very argumentative. The bartender told a woman in our party if she leaves a bad review he will "hunt her down". Disgraceful.
There Must Be Better Vietnamese on This Island

We just returned from a BRIEF dinner at this underwhelming spot in Chelsea. Brief because the few starters we tried did not inspire us to order more. Textbook cha gio (spring rolls) were crispy and served with fresh lettuce, mint and coriander but the 'spicy' beef salad lacked the kick to jumpstart our appetites. The banh xeo, however, was the most disappointing - far from the crunchy overstuffed versions at Banh Xeo in Saigon/HCMC, the limp pancake had a meager filling of shrimp and chicken bits. All this and a beer for $46. Shame because it's a convenient 10 min walk away, but the next stop for us: Chinatown.

Good food. Loved the summer rolls. Don't go here for Pho. Space is crammed, but overall it was a good meal.

This place has consistently great, fresh food and friendly service. Their alcohol list could use an update, but it doesn't deter.

They only thing they care about is you money

I was appalled by the manager's attitude at O Mai. They started pushing us out after 1 hour and 15 minutes with a $240 check for four people. Four people were waiting but there was an empty table. We asked to speak to the management and explained without animosity that we thought they were disconcernd about our dinning experience. We got that horrible auto response you are right, we are sorry, but we still need the table. We were then interrupted by another dinner who became belligerent and started spewing at us, he was possibly drunk. The manager walked away and left him there. He finally left the restaurant. The tables around us were in disbelief. We started to leave and he came back and continued spewing. It was quite an upsetting experience - the management did nothing. I asked the manager why nothing was done to disrupt the gentleman and I also asked him to apologize to our host. His retort, “I will not apologize and you do not have to come back”. I asked for the owners name for I was in complete disbelief and he refused. I wouldn't waste my time or money with O Mai.
Vietnamese Chelsea Hideaway

Unassumingly tucked away in Chelsea, this famed Vietnamese hipster restaurant definitely draws you for both the food and very attractive decor that makes you feel like staying longer. The food was good but not mind blowing and the portions tiny, so you're not going to get the bang for your buck as you typically expect at most Vietnamese restuarants. Not really for casual dining, but with such an agreeable ambiance and attentive service, this would make a perfect date destination if you have a hankering for some pho and spring rolls.
- The best reviews give a clear sense of why you liked or disliked a restaurant, bar, or store. And that means details. Mention specifics dishes, type of crowd, pros and cons...
