I recently dined at Omido several times, after watching a show, for a friend's birthday, took a few clients there for a business lunch and in my conference room (read on!). I got mixed feelings about it because it received mixed reviews. I must say, every restaurant who just started hit a bump here and there, but I think it's safe to say that Omido has paved its road and it should be smooth sailing with unfailed consistency from here forward. There is no redundancy in the menu, like most sushi places I have seen who will create a roll with a version for tuna and salmon or shrimp and crabmeat. The hot entrees are so succulent and the quality of the fish is extraordinary. They have catered my office luncheon with bento boxes and the food arrived in great condition and everyone enjoyed and raved about it. For someone with high standards, I will put Omido on top of my list.

My husband and I love broadway, the only difficult part is deciding whether we eat before or after the show. There's no good place to go around Time square. If we decide to go afterwards, we are usually too tired to enjoy the dinner. A friend recommended going to Omido. I've never heard of that place but I trust her judgment so I dragged my husband there before a show. We had 2 whole hours to enjoy the meal so we tried the Omakase. The Kampachi with black truffle oil and yuzu was absolutely divine! I never knew those flavors will all blend in together beautifully! My husband voted for the braised Kobe as the best part of the meal. One thing for sure, everything was perfect. We enjoyed the show with a full and satisfied stomach, and came home dreaming of our next double date at Omido.

My wife and i were intrigued by this restaurant given its mostly positive reviews on the web. We stopped by for a meal with minimal expectations. What a wonderful experience we had. The fish was fresh and beautifully prepared, the specials were delicious (soft shell crab, lobster salad). Luckily for us the menu is designed so you can order many dishes. We recommend this as we found the menu can take you very deep into Japanese cuisine if you want it to. Our waitress was very nice and made some great recommendations. Needless to say we were very pleased and have gone back several times (we live in the neighborhood). Sometimes just to grab a quick cocktail and some rolls at the bar.

The only thing that I like about this place is the decor. The service is terrible. My waiter is slow and inexperience. He also has a poor knowledge of wine. On top of that, the manager is rude. The food is okay and overprice. Everything in the menu are pretty much the same with Sushi samba menu. For the price that I paid, I would rather go to Sushi Samba. It's a really dissapointing experience.

First off, let me say that Omido came highly recommended by some friends of mine who are into fine dining. From their recommendations, I was expecting fine dining with my wife. What I got was average cuisine, poor service, and lack-luster appeal. Don't get me wrong, the place look fabulous. But for the price I paid for my meal, I could've gone to Sushi Samba (a little pricer, but worth every penny). In fact, the menus are pretty much the same. Not much for originality Omido. The service was appalling. I had a problem and asked to speak to the manager. What I got could only be described as rude from her. If it weren't for my wife, I would've left right then and there. Overall, my experience there was mediocre... to say the least. I wish them luck though. I may have to rethink the recommendations from my friends from now on.

This looks like a nice modern restaurant, but I thought the food was below average, and overpriced. The service was terrible, we were rushed through our meal and presented with the check before we had even finnished our main course. I would suggest trying some other more authentic Japanese restaurants.

We had a very quiet and romantic Valentine's day dinner at Omido this year. It was exceptionally delicious and enjoyable all around. In particular, the short ribs were flavorful and so tender (if a bit fatty). And the mango dessert stands out as well. I'm going back again soon!
