awful service, beware!

I went to dinner with three friends and the service was unbearable. The waiter got our orders all mixed up, when we realized they had brought the wrong dishes and some were missing, we informed the waiter to which he responded we must've already eaten those. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Really, save yourself a nightmare and don't go to this place.

We just had dinner at ONO last night and our experience was really bad they had changed the menu and the chef I guess because the food was horrible!!!! so salty I could not eat it. The service was horrific 1 hour to get 1 martini and when it got to me it tasted like liquid candy so sweet you could not drink it. They had 1 waiter for like 10 tables it was so bad that we had to stand up and go get him every time we wanted water or ice tea. So expensive I was actually mad to have to pay that much for such bad service and food.

I came looking for a good sushi lunch and a unique atmosphere, and was apalled at the most terrible service I've ever had, in any city, anywhere. At first we (a group of four) were greeted by a very rude hostess who looked, and acted, as if she was suffering a severe hangover. The waiter seemed pleasant until, upon ordering, he threatened that if we did not order a large amount of (overpriced) food as a group, that we would not receive our food at the same time and that one of us could be finished with our meal before another was even served, because there were 500 people upstairs for brunch. Really?! The entire Gansevoort doesn't even hold that many guests! What an awful sham. I was completely and totally embarassed by bringing my out-of-town guests here.

There are better places to get a good meal/sushi. Fun with groups or visitors bc of the decent atmosphere, but would not go back.

i've been making the restaurant week rounds, and i went to Ono last night. it was not awful, as i had expected from the reviews. it was actually quite good! had the spicy tuna maki as an app, which was really fantastic, the bass filet as a main course, which was ok, and the miso chocolate cake, which was great. my bf had the rock shrimp tempura, which were actually very good and the surf and turf, which was also good, got not phenomenal. overall, i was pretty satisfied. also, they offered a wine pairing with each course for $15, which was a great deal. we've also been at China Grill, from the same restaurant group, and that was slightly better, but Ono is good. I would go back for sushi, which was the best part of the meal, and clearly their forte.

Went for diner during restaurant week, Will never visit again. Rock shrimp tempura was made from frozen shrimp & did not resemble anything close to rock shrimp. Kumamoto oyster shooters with wasabi tobiko & quail egg – the picture had 4 of them, the restaurant served 2. Surf and turf was horrible. We all felt like we had a piece of meat without any seasoning with too much sauce. Warm chocolate miso cake was the best part of the dinner. We were asked if we want water & then charged $10 per bottle. Waste of money. Too noisy. Horrible food.

so i read the mixed reviews and decided to go..Ok place looked nice, food was horrible and our drinks were empty most of the time. We pretty much sampled the majority of things and i cant say anything was good..the tuna was fishy, crab legs terrible and meat terrible aswell. I will not be going back

The service was horrible, when they opened the Champagne the cork hit the ceiling and they overflowed the glasses. The only food worth ordering was the oyster shooters. Very overpriced for nothing!

Wonderful place, great service, great food. The atmosphere is amazing, the staff is excellent, serive is top notch. Prices are high but worth it. Must go at least once and experience this great food. Portions are kinda small but the taste is worth it. I give this place a 10...

When you make reservations (a must) request to sit upstairs in mezzanine. Downstairs is too loud and crushed. Upstairs service was phenominal. The manager up there kept wait staff on their toes and assisted himself. Food was great. We did not order entrees, we tasted lots of stuff instead. Service is great. Great attitudes. Expensive, but a terrific value when comparing it to NOBU. We usually drop $500 bucks for two in there, this was almost $200. MUSIC WAS AWESOME
