Surprised to hear about the reviews below as each time we've been here, it's been a great experience. We have been here several times but today was a special day. It was my boyfriend's mother 85th birthday and we had the perfect table outside for brunch. Consistent good food, service and the decor is fantastic. Great for a family event, romantic brunch or dinner. The staff made her feel like a million bucks which is much deserved for her 85th!

Several weeks ago my wife and i had the misfortune of eating at Orsay - the liver was virtually inedible, the veal just as bad and the wine over the hill for the mere sum of $90 each - we were there with 7 other people and within 2 days afterward 4 of us were extremely ill with serious diarrhea - a call to the owner proved fruitless since he denied all responsiblity for our conditions - i know this place is popular for reasons i cannot comprehend but if i were you i would beware

After reading the reviews below, we ventured forward with trepidation. We were hosting 7 relatives from Germany for lunch and another family member had recommended Orsay. So here we were, all 9 of us...the ambience reminded us of someplace on the Blvd. St. Germaine. Service was very efficient and the food quite good. We were so relieved to have had such a delightful dining experience and we will definitely return.

Although the decor does remind me of Paris, nothing else seems French. The food was terrible!! The risotto was hard, not creamy, with undercooked squash and peas. We also had the duck, which was good, but the cabbage they served on the side was visually ugly and left a lot to be desired. The service was terrible. The waiters were non-attentive for the most part, and the most insulting thing was that as soon as we finished dessert they dropped the bill at our table. I also went there for a corporate event a month ago, with the same insulting service. The waiters refrained from serving the wine. Any request for service at the table was ignored. In fact, if you were not sitting at the table when dessert was served, the waiters didn't even serve dessert! And then they rushed us out when the clock turned 10pm. The fake french accents are tacky also. Would avoid.

I have been to Orsay a handful of times over the years, and every time it was a little bit worse that the one before. There are a few factors to its demise: the waitstaff is quite terrible, and that is one of the most important things about a good meal! Last time the waiter forgot to order the bottle of wine we requested, so it came out half way into our meal. And when we were ready to place the food order in general, it took a good 15 minutes to catch the guy's attention - the manager himself had to take the order. Not once were we asked if our meal was good or if there was anything we needed. Again, it was the manager who bothered to stop by & ask. Overall the food wasn't good except for the oysters and espresso. I don't think it's worth going back for such a bad experience. I do highly recommend Balthazar for French food, because it always outdoes itself!!!

This restaurant is an absolute delight! We feel happy just walking into this beautiful bistro. The service is warm and unpretentious, the wine list, excellent; the menu, perfectly French, and the price moderate ! Particularly the 3 course prix fixe for $35.00! We have tried most menu items and recommend the burgundy escargot, the artichokes gratine, the sumptious braised beef shortribs, the goat cheese salad, and the bouillabaisse! We've held two special occasions at Orsay, and once hired an Edith Piaf impersonator, who got the crowd clapping by singing the French classics. I've never had one experience at Orsay that was anything less than delightful!!

What more does one want in a restaurant? The two of us shared an Orsay house salad, and each of us had a generous serving of steamed sea bass in vierge sauce. To accompany the bass I had delicious fingerling potatoes and a wonderful medley of vegetables. This was a lovely dish, beautifully cooked. Our dinner was topped off with tarte tatin and creme fraiche, a dessert to die for. Our waiter was courteous and efficient. Orsay has the authenticity of a French brasserie. I highly recommend it.

What a great find! Delicious food and friendly atmosphere. Wonderful wine list, classic French Decor, with a helpful staff. The menu selection was superb, the kitchen sent out the food perfectly. We couldn't of asked for a better experience! I had the beef duo with a short rib that literally melted in my mouth. The most delicious meal I have had in years. The variety of options was delightful. A+! Definitely going back soon!

Cold food sent back still cold. Dover sole revolting. Lamb to be carved at table was carved elsewhere. Full of fat and cold. Veg were nice, big deal!!! Tried to charge for the uneaten inedible food. Freezing draught from the door on one side and the conservatory ont e other side. There must be thousands of better places so give this a miss. A pity because he ingredients were of good quality but the kitchen could not cook them properly. Too busy perhaps but that will not last long if this is their normal standard.
