What more does one want in a restaurant? The two of us shared an Orsay house salad, and each of us had a generous serving of steamed sea bass in vierge sauce. To accompany the bass I had delicious fingerling potatoes and a wonderful medley of vegetables. This was a lovely dish, beautifully cooked. Our dinner was topped off with tarte tatin and creme fraiche, a dessert to die for. Our waiter was courteous and efficient. Orsay has the authenticity of a French brasserie. I highly recommend it.

What a great find! Delicious food and friendly atmosphere. Wonderful wine list, classic French Decor, with a helpful staff. The menu selection was superb, the kitchen sent out the food perfectly. We couldn't of asked for a better experience! I had the beef duo with a short rib that literally melted in my mouth. The most delicious meal I have had in years. The variety of options was delightful.
A+! Definitely going back soon!

Cold food sent back still cold. Dover sole revolting. Lamb to be carved at table was carved elsewhere. Full of fat and cold. Veg were nice, big deal!!! Tried to charge for the uneaten inedible food. Freezing draught from the door on one side and the conservatory ont e other side. There must be thousands of better places so give this a miss. A pity because he ingredients were of good quality but the kitchen could not cook them properly. Too busy perhaps but that will not last long if this is their normal standard.

after church my friend and i walked around looking for a brunch spot. we happened to see orsay and decided to give it a shot. glad we did! the prixe fixe brunch is a bit pricey (at $35 or so if you include orange juice and tip ) but the food and overall experience was great. the meal starts off with a bread basket full of muffins, scones and assorted jams. i had an omelet and my friend had the croque madam. everything was seasoned just right and the food was presented so nicely. service was kind and friendly (bit formal). we were stuffed by the end of our meal...i personally did not have to eat for the rest of the day.

For my partner’s birthday I decided to plan a weekend in Manhattan. He is quite fond of French cuisine so my search began. After reading the reviews/ overview of Orsay, I made reservations. As a small surprise for my partner I further decided to pre-order dinner including wine. Bearing in mind I had never patronized this restaurant, I was a bit uncomfortable. Nonetheless, I made the reservation. I spoke with the staff on several occasions who diligently assisted me in devising a menu. They were completely polite, beyond helpful and quite efficient. The night of our dinner we were served with grace, extreme politeness and professionalism. The food was superb! I actually ended up ordering a third dessert! I was further impressed with the wine that was chosen for our special dinner. Also, the ambience was very “French” and jovial. I took a very big risk for a very important night, but the evening evolved into one of the finest dining experiences!

It's about time we had a proper bistro on the Upper East Side. With a certain je ne sais quoi, Orsay has taken the old Mortimers and re-vamped it completely.
The salmon tartare is terrific, and while pricey, the entrees were quite good. But the best part of all - is the beautiful terrace. It is just SO lovely to sit and relax on a bright sunny day on Orsay's balcony, drink in hand.
Also a nice place to take Buffy, Mitsy, Bitsy and Maxi for a petit dejeuner. Too cute for words.

The Orsay is a spacious brass railed wood paneled bitro with a gracious yet informal staff. The food is innovative and of the highest quality, yet moderately priced. We especially enjoyed a smoked salmon appetizer surrounded by a creamy lightly spiced piece of feta that complemented the salmon without overwhelming it. A serving of beef tatare was refreshing and well presented. WE EAT WELL IN CA AND THIS IS A GREAT RESTAURANT!

is always crowded. Don't go for the food-go for the loud (very) true bistro atmosphere. I've had outstanding lobster salad, served properly chilled, and Dover Sole served improperly chilled! Ouch! At $35 don't you think the fish should at least be warm? Service is confusing; waiters are buzzing all over the place, but not sure what to do. More user friendly than Mortimer's (its previous incarnation) and a better place to take out-of-towners than Tavern on the Green.

Expensive, snooty, filled with image-conscious UES 30s and 40s. If you are part of that crowd and know what to expect, then this place is great. And regardless of the "scene" the food is terrific. If this is not your kind of scene -- STAY AWAY!
P.S. The manager was VERY nice and accomodating after a busboy spilled some water on my date. Free drinks and a rush to the head of the wait list. And it wasnt the busboys fault. The place is CROWDED! on a Tuesday no less!
