The reservationist recorded the wrong time for my Thanksgiving Day dinner reservations. By the time I found out about the mistake, the restaurant was booked. I could not use the time they had us down for because a member of our party had to work that day. Instead of being in any way apologetic, the manager was rude, snotty and condescending.

Worst Dining Experience of the Year

Absolutely awful. Sat for 45 minutes before our order was taken -- wish we'd left during that wait. From amuse bouche to dessert each offering was worse than the next, some bordering on inedible. The butternut squash flan was overwhelmed by the ginger topping it, the appetizer of diver scallops sat upon what was we thought a previously diner had eaten and threw up back on his plate, the halibut was nicely seared but utterly unseasoned and flavorless. To top off this terrible experience the "carrot cake" was perhaps the worst dessert that I've ever encountered at any restaurant: three tiny blocks of what cannot in anyone's imagination be called carrot cake -- it had a crust on it that led my wife to believe it had been deep fried (or maybe left out for days) -- accompanied by a pear-flavored block of gelatinous something and, the kicker, a scoop of ridiculously bad tasting green chai ice cream (was told the pastry chef (who should be publicly flogged) would refuse to substitute vanilla for us). Do not under any circumstances waste a cent at this restaurant when there are so many restaurants around the city deserving of your business.

Excellent. $35 fixed price, you get a lot of high quality food - breads and pastries to start (delish scone and muffin were highlights), choice of appetizer - we had excellent fruit selection, choice of entrees I had amazing pancakes and gf amazing risotto. Service very friendly and good. Good coffee too. It's pricey but hey what do you expect? Not too busy but buzzing especially later on

I enjoyed an absolutely perfect and amazing time at Park Avenue Winter with my mother and grandmother for their first trip to NYC in years. It was sophisticated, classy, beautiful and above all, extremely delicious. The crispy calamari salad, the veal chop, and the apple/brussells sprouts side dish were all delicious. A true hit!

I had high expectations. Lovely space, nice looking menu. Extremely rushed, but professional service (I have read this elsewhere as well).
Food was far from exceptional--I had Thai soup and King Salmon--felt i could have easily replicated dishes in my kitchen. Tasted food in my party as well, same feeling. My banana parfait for desert missed the boat as well. Overall, ordinary and overpriced. I spoke with manager to give feedback--he gave me his card and an "I am sorry." The smile was cursory and saccharin like.
Not a return destination unfortunately.

I ate here last night for my boyfriendÂ’s birthday and we were both exceedingly disappointed. The idea of the restaurant is interesting and the decor is most definitely tasteful and fun to look atÂ…but when all is said and done, this place is a gimmicky rip-off that serves less then mediocre food hoping you won't notice b/c you will be so enamored with the scenery. Well, if I wanted to spend 400 bucks on dinner for 2 and enjoy some winter scenery, I really should have just ordered takeout from La Bernardin and eaten it outside. I suppose going to any restaurant in the 60's on the UES is setting yourself up to spend some money, but you at least hope for good food in return. I had the most vulgar, over cooked chicken while my boyfriend had a mangled piece of meat. We were rushed the entire time-even so much as to have them bring out our main dish while we were still eating our appetizersÂ…very classy.
Trust me--there are a hundred better places then this one on the UES to eat. DonÂ’t waste your money.

The new decor changes four times during the year with the seasons. We appreciated the Winter décor during a recent evening.Chef Craig Koketsu’s menu is intriguing. The execution in the kitchen has been uneven. Some dishes are great, some far from it. A king prawns appetizer in Summer was great, and mediocre in Winter. John Dory and Halibut main courses were very good to outstanding. The lack of consistency is troubling.
The overall acceptable food is diminished by a staff that is can be so bad that they are almost humorous. The front desk hosts and mangers have developed an attitude. When a specific type of seating was not available when we arrived we were seated at another table. Fair. But when our requested table freed prior to our appetizers arriving and we requested a floor manager to move us, we were first given the slow roll and then denied the move due to “confusing the waiters according to the chef.” For the next forty minutes the table was unoccupied. We want to like Park Avenue but the restaurant does so many little things to irritate us that we are unlikely to return in the near future.

I made the reservation for restaurant week 3 days before. I was only able to get a 5:45 reservation however the restaurant was nearly half empty at 7pm when we had finished our meal. That aside, the choices on the prix fixe menu were excellent. We had the sweet potato soup and the scallops, the short ribs and the sea bass. The service was equally good. The restaurant is very spacious and comfortable.

I took my wife to the Park Avenue Cafe for her birthday and we both truly enjoyed our meals. I was impressed by their service. I had requested a birthday desert for my wife which was excellent.
