A a 100% Italian-American who knows what Italian food is, this place is a sham. For the prices this place charges I was expecting a 5 star meal. Presentation was terrible, seasoning below average, service 60 minute into sitting down, no entree. The Italian bread was cold and hard, the hot appetizer was lousy (sandy clams) and very small portions. The entree chicken contandino had french fries instead of potato's. No pasta with entree's. Olive Garden can beat this place out.

For the mere fact that the price tag was close to $200 for my husband and I, the expectation was so very disappointing. The bread was cold, hard and not by any shake artisan in fact stale. The appetizers were calamari insalate, which was meager portion, but thankfully as the dressing did nothing to make the seafood sumptuous. The caesar salad was average, small portioned. Entree of zuppe de pesce was without presentation, small portioned, gave the wrong pasta and the sauce was average. The other entree of veal rollantini was quite honestly the toughest veal I have ever tasted literally drowned in a mushroom marsala sauce. The saving grace for me was the Rosenblum Zin which I chose, albeit extremely overpriced. Never will we return. I suggest you don't waste your money as well.

Why anyone would eat at this restaurant is beyond me. The food was awful - overcooked vegetables, slimy salad greens, mass market bread, rude waiters. And about 3 times more expensive than a good (not great) restaurant like Carmines.

When I was in New York my friend and I were walking the streets at a loss as to where to eat, I know, at a loss in New York is crazy. We new we wanted different so we thought Indian. But as we read the menu we decided to see what was next door. Neither of us had heard of Patsy's, so we read that menu. Decision made, Patsy's was the one. When we walked in it was a small dining area, but well lit and a warm atmosphere. When I was treated to my dinner, it was delicious. To make a long story short it was a nice evening in a restaurant that was new to me but known by many. I bought the cook book on the way out and thanked the owners who were greeting and saying goodnight to all the patrons, and was glad my friend and I had decided on Italian that night. Wonderful and even more wonderful was the staff that treated us as if we were the only ones there every minute of that night 5 years ago.

When we visit NYC each year...we make sure we visit Patsys...always nice...wonderful service...even Sal comes around saying hello.

We ate at Patsy's by chance on a Saturday night in June 08 during a 2 week visit to NYC. From arrival to departure the whole experience was fantastic. Good old fashioned service - professional but friendly. Unpretentious and flavoursome food. A place that would be justified in resting on it's laurels - but it doesn't. Patsy's does what it does well - a classical Italian restaurant. It will be a must visit on our next trip.

If you want the best Italian in the city, this is the restaurant to go to. Even if you aren't Frank, or Tony Bennett, or Rush Limbaugh, or the other 900 people they have pictures of on their walls, they still treat you well, surprisingly. Sorry to read the fellow down below had such a bad experience. Oh yeah, and the food, it's pretty darn good.

PastyÂ’s the West mid-50Â’s classic Italian eatery is most famous as one of Frank SinatraÂ’s places. It would be wrong to dismiss this restaurant as an old fashion (since 1944), perhaps tourist establishment. The family runs the place as a trust, and not only as a profit center, although it is also the latter. The food is classic and nearly perfect. The service is professional. The prices are right on. Perhaps the lighting could be turned down a little to give the rooms the same warmth the food and service provides.

The spaghetti and Meatballs was the best we've ever had. Our 4yrs.old daughter could not finish the hughe plate that was served and we took it to the hotel. It was even better cold the next day. Everything we ordered was excellent.

Pasta is not hard to cook. Simple pasta only needs boiling water. But the pasta here is homemade. SAuce is a little harder, because a lot of times it tends to be syrupy or bitter, or lack spices. At Patsy's, the pasta and the sauce is both very, very good. I do not really love the resturant itself, because it has to compare with a lot more splendid-looking places in manhattan. But the food is really great. The servings are not over-priced when you see them on the menu, but for the average person, they may be. They are really small, and so the plates are about 30 dollars per person. Wine is about 25-40 dollars, which offsets the other expenses, and so two people can dine for less than 80 dollars. For very good food, this is a value. I think this is a place more people should try, because a lot of more upscale italian places are terrible in the city.
