To be brief: my friend and I dined at Peasant last night and the food was delicious, the service was attentive, polite, well-executed, and notable, and the atmosphere was impressive. There is nothing not to love about Peasant. The meal itself was perfectly prepared (we had the rabbit) and the dessert (bread pudding) left my dinner companion at a loss for words with its divine texture, taste, and visual appeal. The waitress knew her wines and what to recommend to accompany the meal. I can think of few places in the city that can compete with the overall dining experience I had last night. Excellent restaurant worthy of praise.

Peasant gave my boyfriend and I one of the best restaurant experiences we have had, and the place now has a special spot in my heart. Our restaurant choices always involve a homey, local venue, and Peasant definitely fit the bill. We went for an anniversary dinner after an amazing time at Blue Hill a week before...and it was just as good but in a different way. The wait staff is attentive, quirky, down to earth and friendly, the scene is warm and young, the wine is DELICIOUS, and the menu was perfectly Pugliese. I had the best frutti di mare there that I have ever tasted, better than my own--which I can basically prepare blindfolded because I make it so much. The whipped ricotta served with crusty tuscan bread was also a lovely nuance of the meal. Peasant nailed the concept of authentic, unpretentious Italian food in a romantic yet metropolitan environment. I highly recommend it to anyone.

So, as a self professed "foodie" I like to try out as many restaurants as I can afford. The first time I went to Peasant was on a date, and it was perfect. Nice wine list, dimly lit, and the food was delicious. Everything was salted and incredibly flavorful. Yes, it's expensive, but it is well worth it. I have made a point to mention Peasant every time one of my friends is looking to try something new. I have gone 5 times now, and am just waiting for a reason to go back. I have heard people complain about the wait, however if you go at a reasonable time, show up on time, and chill out at the bar for a minute, it's nothing at all. There is only a wait because this place is jamming, and has been full to the brim every time i have gone. Again, some of the BEST FOOD I have eaten in New York.

This meal was INCREDIBLE. On a Friday night when places fill up quickly (but on the later side), we called at 5:45, were able to get a table for 7:00, and it was absolutely WONDERFUL! The atmosphere was warm and candlelit with the open kitchen right in plain view. We immediately received delicious Italian bread with fresh ricotta, and our waitress was a dream--incredibly helpful, patient, and friendly. From the razor clams to the baby chicken to the papardelle with fresh porcini, this meal was a bacchanalian experience that I would be lucky to come back for.

The best osso buco I've had in a long time. The decor is wonderful, rustic and romantic. Great place for a date. Only problem is you might have to scream across the table just to hear each other. Noisy atmosphere, but if your looking for a great meal, you don't mind the noise. Hey, it's an authentic Italian restaurant, it's not supposed to be quite. Great meal, one of the best. I'd recomend to anyone.

you really have to understand food and design to get this place, the food is outstanding , a little unusual with a authentic feel, and the design is strikingly minimal with old world charm..love it much...

The food is dynamic and interesting. The wine list is fantastic (especially the Pelago wine from Umani Ronchi - worth the 190 bucks) The server I had was great. Wine savvy and friendly. Great place for a date, clients or friends. Beautiful restaurant.
