Went there with a couple of friends, and must tell you it was horrible. The food is poorly conceived and executed. The wine suggestions did not pair well with anything we ordered. The wait staff was aloof and tactless. The decor misses soooo many notes, the only thing worth looking at are the natural wood panels, otherwise tasteless misappropriation of antebellum nostalgia mixed with overused details of riverside drive apartments!

I was really excited to eat at Peels, seeing as the owners' past ventures were very well received. To my dismay, the menu was smallish & full of dishes I try to stay away from unless I am really hung over & need grease to fill me up. A simple stew gave me the worst stomach ache, and the rest of the dishes were difficult to eat: a simple creamed spinach dish consisted of wilted spinach in a slop of half & half. Potato hash browns were fried donut balls with potato flavoring. Potato gnocchi tasted like plain lard. The staff was nice, but the food was just gross. When I looked around at what the trendy teens were eating, it was a simple plate of charcuterie & a glass of wine, which made sense â€“ no one wants to roll out of there like a butter ball. I didn't enjoy the food I was eating. For a better plate of charcuterie I will gladly go to Pulino's down the street.

Amazing cocktails... get the bond st. swizzle... Gin base drink with crushed ice muttled mint with absenthe float and hint of almond... Yeah it was dead on and fantastic! wondeful good comfort food... I had the porkloin and it was of the best dishes I had in a long long time, served with sweet potato mash and a crab apple compote... Sweet yet savory. Yum! Waitress sweet, kind and all around helpful... The decor is clean and fresh, but still very hip and not in that cheesey way.... This place is it, from the well dressed staff to the stemware. Listen going out to eat in NYC isn't just about the food, it's about how the experience makes you feel. This a place to be seen and brag to your friends about. i also just found out they open at 7am!! stumptown coffee and fresh baked muffins, this is the new spot, get on board

Really disappointed. I was so excited when I heard about Peel opening on the Bowery. As a big fan of Freeman's, The Rusty Knot and the whole hunting lodge "how much for the axe" and tailored suit vibe, this was a major major let down. The food was very bland and waay too expensive. I had an extremely average Swordfish ( Is it still legal to eat Swordfish?) my wife had the Quinoa salad that was frozen. Clearly not freshly made. Another member of our party had the lamb shank - looked great, tasted - well, no taste. The unfortunate truth is that this place will probably do really well with the bearded single racer crowd in the hood. Sienna Miller will be seen making out with Jude Law's nanny and some twat will tweet it. Hype will overshadow the 0 stars this place currently deserves. Maybe nice for a coffee and a newspaper in the morning as the downstairs area has a bit of charm. Too expensive and cold upstairs to be a dinner venue.

I went to Peel's this past weekend for dinner with some friends and we loved it. I am a huge fan of Freeman's so I knew I had to try it. The chicken was the best I've had and the service was good. The atmosphere is fun and cozy with the ultimate comfort food menu. I will definitely be back!

I went here for brunch last weekend and it was delicious. Great service, cute decor and really solid food. Not a complaint among my 4 person group.

And I mean R-A-W! Not undercooked, not pink - two inches of translucent, raw, white meat. Apparently, someone took the wrong piece out of the fryer and served it before it's time. Apparently, the chef is not paying attention to what his staff is doing and what is being sent out. This place has way too much attitude and hype to make a huge blunder like that worth another visit. The other dishes were okay (accept for the dry yellow cake with hard ganache frosting), and the manager who came over from Freeman's was gracious and completely picked up the pieces after our waitress unapologetically told us that "the chicken is so fresh that sometimes that happens." Oh my.
