WAY too overpriced for the neighborhood and for brunch!? C'mon. Poor quality food - disappointing portion sizes coupled with the below par service...and nearly $80 later?! Permanent Brunch was a Permanent disaster.

So, yes, I had read the warnings about interminable wait times from fellow reviews and gone anyway. What else can you do when a restaurant puts your favorite meal right in the name? Bacon calls and you slump, bed- and vodka-headed, up 1st Avenue. Then you wait 20 minutes for a table and another 40 for your food (unless you are my unfortunate roommate who waited another 10 for pancakes). They explained that the computer system was down, creating havoc in the tiny kitchen, and gave us an extra side of bacon, which, considering we'd already order three sides, a fourth seemed more punishment than compensation. Indeed, the artisanal bacon bar is brilliant in idea if not reality--two selections were overly fatty and the third (apologies, my dear Hungarian ancestors) tasted like it was smoked with lighter fluid. Otherwise, the food was pretty much like any other breakfast spot. I'll give them bonus points for a playlist that lets you vote on upcoming songs via iPhone. Supertramp goes surprisingly well with cold eggs.

Despite the mixed reviews here, I thoroughly enjoyed it for brunch this morning. It's only been open for five weeks - I think the reviewer from early August should try again. It's not perfect, but it's a fun crowd with good food.

Four friends and I went on a Sunday and had an amazing meal. The service was great, in fact, we were given a free app for having to wait a bit before our orders were taken. The food was everything I hoped it would be and the drinks were fabulous. Also, if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch you can connect to the PB system and request songs. Very Cool! My only issue is wanting the prices to be a bit cheaper so I could go more often. The quality of the food is well worth the money.

Excellent food, some service kinks to work out

Given the fact that this restaurant JUST opened, the problems with service are to be expected--but the food is hands-down amazing. I don't usually go for sweet-savory combos, but the ham and cheese-stuffed french toast was crazy good, and the bloody marys are so far beyond your average brunch place's that they alone are worth the wait--your patience will be rewarded with that salty, soothing tomato goodness. Cozy vibe and good music--my only critique is that the bacon, while delicious, should be served up in a different format. Those slabs on a plate are screaming for some kind of garnish. I'm a big fan of Meg Grace (from the nearby Redhead), and Permanent Brunch is going to be another of my go-to spots.

for this neighborhood and the prices, the portions were entirely too small. i can go to any number of other restaurants in the same vicinity and be satisfied. my dining partner and i had to have another meal elsewhere after dining at PB so i will not be going back. overall, a really silly and terrible experience.

Where to begin? The grossly under-quoted wait time? The missing entrees? The substitution of biscuits for waffles in "chicken and waffles"? The inattentive and rushed service? The fake-out food that came incorrectly to the table 3 times? The fact that they ran out of brunch at a place named "Permanent Brunch"? An obvious example of someone who's NEVER worked in the business thinking it would be fun to open a restaurant. Avoid the temptation and go to Belcourt or Clinton St. Baking instead.

Permanent Wait for no food

Showed up at 1pm and waited over an hour only to be told that the restaurant was closing because apparently they had run out of food. Not sure what kind of restaurant runs out of food after being open for only a few hours. They must have only had 2 sittings before having to close for the day, this place is clearly not ready. They should change the name to Permanent Wait because that is the only thing they were able to give most of the people waiting.

It's too bad that such tasty drinks and a fantastic french toast won't be around for much longer. The service was the worst I've ever experienced - both before getting seated and whilst waiting for our meal. Ended up getting a free drink only after asking for it because of the ridiculous wait, but at that point the damage was already done. A good concept in theory, though it was very poorly executed with this opening. Suffice it to say that $100 and 3 hours later, we will not be back.
