Persephone,,,,,Another Authentic Greek Restaurant added to the Periyali and Il Cantinori Family. This is the most authentic Greek Restaurant that I have been to... The Atmosphere is enjoyable, The Staff is extremely polite and knows what to recommend, The Food is made to perfection and delicious, From the Appetizers, to the Main Course, to the Desserts,,,Nothing can Beat the perfect evening you will have at the Periyali... This is Simply the Best Restaurant in New York City if not throughout the U.S.

I've been going to Persephone consistently for the past several months, and I wanted to finally share this place with everyone!. Simply put, for those who've never tried it, the food is amazing and the service is outstanding!!

I went to Persephone last weekend with my brother and was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and the service with polite and timely. The manager also greeted us and I found it to be a hospitable atmosphere. I would suggest others to go here.

I discovered Persephone accidentally a few days ago and had a wonderful time dinning there. The food was authentic Greek, just like my grandmother's! I will definitely go back!

Had a wonderful dinner here last night. Over the last few years I have returned here and each time I am so impressed with the quality of the food and ambiance. The service was very prompt.

My co-worker brought me here after work last week and Persephone has some of the best food Ive had in NYC and certainly the best Greek Ive had. The ocotopus appetizer was incredible as was the greek salad.. but you have to save room for the lamb shank so make sure you come with either a healthy appetite or decent sized party as the portions are quite big.

It is the best greek food I had in NY so far. The food is delicately tasty, the ingredients are fresh and of good quality. I enjoyed a lot the very tender lamb in my moussaka. I also appreciated the service with the accent and the smile. Good place to go, the wine list is interesting too. I had a riesling Grand Cru from Domaines Schlumberger and it was outstanding.

I guess that's a little strong. The food is quite good. (The menu is almost identical to Periyali.) But retsina isn't on the menu (although you can ask for it). The tatziki is only so-so. The food portions overall are too big. If you order an appetizer and a main course, it becomes too much, and forget about dessert. My recommendation is to order two appetizers, for example, the large tomato and feta salad, and maybe the octopus, or spreads. But the surroundings are pleasant enough, and the help helpful.

When Dovetail and Persephone opened, my friend asked me which one I would rather try. I chose Persephone. Not entirely wise. The meal was fine (the presentation was a little off-putting, but the food itself tasted good), the service was fine, but we were seated in what is best described as an "annex," which was both cold and right next to the bathroom. I would go back, although now I know to ask to be seated IN the restaurant.
