The last two evenings I dined at Piadina. I had walked by it many times, but it's partially hidden at street level, it was not until I saw the New York Magazine review that I took notice. Finally, two days ago, I entered, and loved it. So welcoming, unpretentious, physically lovely, with a youngish friendly and informative Italian staff, checking in without hovering. I ordered a delicious fish and seafood soup. It comes with toast dipped into the broth, and with the delicious oil drenched bread served to all guests, and hearty Cabernet house wine, it made for a perfect light meal. The next night went back with another friend, and I again ordered the same soup, this time also sharing another delicious dish, a large shaved fennel salad. My friend ordered a flaky salmon with green beans. The seemingly small cellar-like place, with brick walls and bright paintings, extends into several rooms, it is an unfolding surprise. I don't believe there are any fireplaces, but the warmth that exudes from the physical environment, from the staff, and from the kitchen makes me doubt my memory. The experience is of coherent homyness with a slight exoticism. The music, ranging from Latin to world folk to kitschy Italian, never drowns the conversations. It is the home I want, not quite what I had.

We found the restaurant by chance while wandering mid-winter looking for a welcoming place to eat and warm up. Piadina was exactly what we needed. The rustic grotto feeling of the place is warm and cozy and feels like grandma's kitchen fire should be going and is brewing up special homemade treats for all diners. The waiters are friendly, efficient, helpful and generally awesome. (cute too, yes) The menu is priced so right and affordable, I felt like I could order a 4 course meal. And the portions were just right, with steaming fresh made pasta and sauces that will leave you satisfied. I can't say enough good things about this wonderful little place. Go! Enjoy!

I love this place. The food is delicious, the portions are good, and the plates are cheap. The wine is also great. The service is always friendly and energetic. I only have one complaint: the back room in the restaurant is sometimes too loud and too crowded. But if you go on a quiet night, this place is perfection!!!

This is a great authentic Italian restaurant. The food is great, and service is friendly (the place is owned and operated by Italians), and the ambiance is perfect. Piadina is an adorable and cozy date spot, but it's also casual and comfortable enough for a friendly group dinner. I love this place!
