after we were seated we've been waiting for 10 minutes for the waiter to come in and bring the menu. It didn't happen, so we ourselves found him and asked for it. He said they had no menus right now. It wasn't that busy though. Two tables who came after us already got their menus and orders. We noticed a couple of menus on a shelf (though the waiter said there were no more) and took them. After 20 minutes no one came to our table yet, so we walked out and decided to never come back.

I never write reviews, but decided to give back to others since I always look at reviews whether it's a restauraunt or a product I want to purchase. The decor is a mix of a NYC coffee shop with a hint of a french bistro, nothing too extraordinary but nice and cozy and a pleasant atmosphere. My husband and I went there for brunch and I ordered a carrot and ginger soup and a tuna melt sandwich, and both were good, especially so the tuna melt which was very delicate, especially I appreciated the fact that there was no strong taste of tuna and the taste was very subtle as I am not a big tuna lover. The soup was usual, but not bad. My husband had a roast beef sandwich and it was also good. Not to say that I have never tried anything better, but my favorite was the tuna melt, and yes, I would recommend it to a friend and would go back myself. Oh.. the pancakes someone was having at another table looked good too. The only thing that I realy did not like was that the wait was over 40 minutes!!! Other than that all good.
Worst Meal I've Had In Years
By ClarkMIT on 8/25/2010
I ate at the Pink Pony on Friday, August 20th. It was hands down the worst meal I have ever had in New York. The waitress was snotty and when she finally took our order, it took hours to get to us, despite the fact that no one else was there. My "steak au poivre" (which I ordered medium) showed up a rubbery gray-all-the-way-through, sitting on a puddle of some sort of creamy mustardy looking sauce that was ice cold. The fries they sent out with this steak...they must have been fried 2 nights prior and kept in the fridge. I never send anything back, but this was absolutely appalling. I sent it back and the waitress made no effort to get me something else. Instead, she complained about how the kitchen was having problems and they were getting all the flack for it. Whatever the case was, the whole kitchen staff should be fired. Where's Gordon Ramsey when you need him!? NEVER GO HERE.

Hard to say

They no longer have the reversive mirror and aren't even sad about it, claimed the Swedish, apathetical, former male model that (poorly) waited my table."What do you care about?", I asked, v. upset about the mirror. NO answer. (Too much to ask a stranger on a Sunday afternoon?) Needless to say, the PP is one of my favorite place to get a tuna melt in the whole of New York, but if it means talking to this blond dickhead ever again, count me out.
Fun, Relaxed Dinner Scene

Sure the wait staff is a little slow but if you're not in a rush, it has a great ambiance, very boho, and it's a great value. Menu offers someone for everyone in the party - from peanut butter sandwich to oysters and pate.

I recently visited Pink Pony and was impressed by their steak au poivre. The person below who rated this a 1 is a weeny who like probably dines at mcdonalds.

I used to be a regular there some time ago. Went back yesterday early evening. The place was empty. Food was good still, granted. But the check had that sneaky extra charge of 20% so I asked the manager whether that's for service, assuming they made a mistake. He said yes, they'd charge that for groups of 6 and more. I gently encouraged him to count one more time (we were four plus a baby), after which he said "well, for groups of five and more." What a jerk. Bye bye Pink Pony.
