Terrible service, lousy food and high prices
By martyblueyes on 8/23/2010
We went to see the fireworks in Coney on a Friday night a few weeks ago. We were hungry so we decided to sit down at this place. We gave our order and the food came in about 2 minutes flat, almost like it was already cooked. The whole chicken ($12) tasted like it was sitting there for a while, but we were hungry. The breast was dry and the dark meat was soggy. One of the items ordered never came and we decided to let it be because we were full. DO NOT BUY BEER THERE> there is no prices for beer on the menu, Nathans sells a bottle of beer for $3.50 and I've paid $5 in some places. We had two corona which arrived in a coca cola cup and were not full. Two beers in cups $12. When it was time to get the check asked for it 5 times and I actually had to get up to remind the lady for the 6th time. 5 minutes to get the food and 30 minutes to get the check, and as crowded as Coney gets on a Friday night, you think they would want to get the table back. It was like $50 for 2 orders of rice and beans and a whole chicken with 2 beers. They added the item that we never got and I had to bring it to the waitresses attention. She took it off and the check came to$47 and change. Reading the previous review I wonder if they added the gratuity. I gave $5 and the waitress was very aloof and the place just sucks. I hate to ruin someones business, not my style but this place has nothing. Crappy food, poor service, high prices and attitude. I was very disappointed and will not return.

The food, comparable to its other Pio Pio locations, is good and plentiful. The prices are higher because they're "boardwalk prices", but let's get down to the whole point of writing this review. When we got the check, the waitress "mistakenly" added an extra 40 bucks out of nowhere to it, so when called upon her "mistake", she apologized, then scribbled all over the check and added some whiteout just in case it didn't look confusing enough for us to decipher. This time the check total was correct with another amount in veeeryyy small numbers that seemed way too high to be the tax on the given total. So she comes over leerily again, seeing our confusion, and has the balls to tell us that it's the tax with the service included, but that THEY DON'T TELL THE CUSTOMERS THAT UNLESS THEY ASK. Are you f**** kidding me? That's illegal! So, not only do they try to get you while you're enjoying the weather and your hard-earned weekend hoping you won't notice the extra 40 bucks added to your total, they're hoping you'll leave a nice big fat juicy tip on top of a total f-you-we-totally-screwed-you-over rip-off! Good food, but my stomach turned over and over after dealing with such complete BS! CHECK YOUR BILL CAREFULLY IF YOU GO!
