This place has a lot of potential as the food we received was delicious. We were a party of 4 in for lunch and ordered about 6 or 7 tapas plates but only received 5 and our server never checked back with us for an additional drink or food orders or for us to inquire about our other food items. Such a shame the place wasn't even that busy, looked like a large table of 6 -8 plus a about 4 other 2 tops. Hate to see what happens when it's crowded
Food is moot when the employees are this amazingly rude

I've been scouting wedding locations, and met with Pipa's "Events Coordinator" to discuss dates and options. (I should note that when I asked for her at the host station, she was *at* the station and pretended she didn't hear her name, did not introduce herself, and walked away before coming to my table and saying Hiiiiiiiiiii. Okay, Hiiiiiiiiii, cupcake.) At the end of our brief meeting, she said she would give me a quote within a day. That was 9 days ago, and she has not responded to two polite emails. The service/employee demeanor/non-food criticisms of Pipa are on point. That this woman holds this job in this economy - where she can waste your time by arranging a meeting during standard work hours, and then failing to follow up in any way - is absurd, as is the fact that Pipa doesn't appear to get that no one hires out a wedding space for the immense privilege of dealing with the "Events Coordinator," but rather for food and ambiance. Shame.
Love at First Date

My absolute favorite was the Piggy Back Date. It was crunchy and salty on the outside, and then as you bite into it, it deliciously melts in your mouth, and then you finish with the slightest bit of crunch. The key is to eat it slowly. You have to savor it and let the food lead you to a playful dance. And when I finished, I knew I had fallen in love with my "date." Read more at www.hesaidshesaid09.blogspot.com
Tapas Shmatahs and Home
By spoonfeeder on 5/11/2009
I was looking to make a purchase of a chandelier and an antique style mirror when would you guess it… I found a really great tapas bar. Tapas bar? ABC Carpet and Home had the idea of combining a tapas bar with their insanely large showroom. Pipa Tapas Y Mas, like a Spanish version of Bad Bath and Beyond, but the food…way beyond the goods at BB&B. I still can’t decide if the idea was genius, or just derived from a really large surplus of free space. The first time I passed by this eatery on a Thursday night, it was claiming an hour long wait, and this was at around 8:30pm. I am really glad I found my way back here. Espanola salads and Spanish tortillas on the menu gave the feel of Barcelonan authenticity, while the mix of flamenco and Ricky Martin grounded us back in New York. The menu items were all prepared in simple yet elegant ways and then added a flare of flavor to make the dish really taste worthy. Read more at http://spoonfeeder.blogspot.com
excellent Tapas restaurant
By Pefac on 3/19/2009
First of all the Sangria was awsome, probably one of the best ive ever had. The food itself was deliscious, each dish came out hot and packed a lot of flavor. my friend that i went with is a vegetarian (im by nature a true carnivore and usually find vegetable dishes bland and boring) however, the dishes were delicious, i never though a plate of steamed spinach could have so much flavor. I definately reccommend and would definately go back.

Decided to check out this place, after the remake of both restaurants at ABC. To my surprise food was absolutely delicioso!! Very authentic catalan cuisine, all was very good, most notable, calamari and crab stuffed red peppers, omg, i wasn't even hungry. Will go again and take friends. Very nice decor and service as well.
great 'tastes' and awesome atmosphere

First off, jessie777 how honest is your review when you had to be told to stop hitting on the manager's wife? Overall the food was great, the sangria was really tasty and the service was typical of most NY restaurants. The big payoff was how cool the place looks. Good food and drink mixed with off the hook atmosphere, that's a winner to me.

I just love Pipa and go here literally once a week. The food is, hands down, some of the best New York has to offer. The Calamari is my favorite and the Mushroom flatbread is so tasty! Not the mention the Red Sangria is really good!! The atmosphere is my favorite part, the chandeliers add a taste of sophistication while the rest of the decor add a flare of easiness. The service could be a lot better, but don't let that stop you from trying this place!
Excellent - Pina Coladas and Sangria a MUST!

Fabulous - must try
Terrible service, stay clear of this place.

We went into Pipa's on a sunday afternoon, both the decor and the menu looked interesting. The host informed us that the main dining section was closed, so we sat in the bar area. While the food was reasonably good (we ended up ordering the Wild Mushrooms and Ham Croquettes tapas), the service at the bar was terrible and insulting, to the point that the (red-headed) waitress had major attitude issues when we asked for a coffee refill. This has been the first time EVER that I didn't leave ANY tip at all, that's how terrible the service was! Reading thru the comments from previous reviewers, this seems to be an ongoing issue, and nothing has really changed. Go elsewhere if you want to have a good time.
