not really in love with this sando... for 9.75 including tax id stick with a banh mi(3.75 and bigger). it was kind of hard to bite into. not sure what temp its suppose to be served at, and i did take 10 min to unwrap and eat at my office, but it was cold. Granted this was their 2nd day opening, id have to see some super reviews in the next few weeks to go back.

Despite a wait of around 40 minutes (so busy they ran out of pork, had to cook more), the sandwich was really, really good. The bread was really fresh, and soaked up all the delicious drippings from the meat. The pork was super tasty, and really tender. Not sure how they portion out the crackling to make sure some gets into every sandwich, but I'm glad they do. We talked about how good the sandwich was all the way home (to Harlem), Really pleasant counterman, nice decor.

I kept hearing the word "crackling" in regards to this sandwich, but it really is the only way to describe it. I really loved it. Got some greens on the side and they were also great. I wish there was a little more seating available. I guess if it is crowded, one can order to go and enjoy at Niagra or International Bar. Highly recomended.

As a really big fan of slow roasted pork I was not impressed in the least... very average pork. Tenderness was average and taste was mediocre. The taste of slow roast pork needs to stand on it's own without adding anything extra and this needed something extra. I also agree with another review that Porchetta should have $$$ or $$$$, for $9.75 you are served a 4-inch sandwich with maybe 1 ounce of pork. I was left still hungry and had to get a burger soon after. Porchetta fails in the fundamentals of slow roast pork and for that reason stay away. And on the issue of value I give Porchetta an F.

Porchetta, the tiny East Village roast-pork emporium on East 7th Street, is a dangerous place. For pork addicts, anyway. The meat is superb, except someone has a far too heavy hand with the fennel: waaay too much of that overpowering licorice taste--- for MY tastes, anyway. Otherwise, perfection. Just be careful: you could break a tooth on the hardened crackling bits or pull off a cap on the over-tough ciabatta. But the roast potatoes with bits of crispy pork are to die for. It does seem pricey, though: 9 bucks for the sandwich, 5 for a small cup of potatoes. Six-fifty for the sammich and three-fifty for the spuds seems more in line. (No option to opt out of last 4 questions; it's just a counter/takeout place, not a real restaurant. You might want to fix that, NYM.)

The pork is the star of this cute little place. Very well seasoned, and cooked to a juicy tenderness- just like my Nana used to make. That is where the accolades end. The beans were hard(legumes generally are not supposed to be cooked al dente), and the greens, though abundant could have used more seasonings. The plate of pork, greens, and beans is by far the best value at $12. The sandwich priced at $9 is too little food for too much money. Not a bad choice if you're in the East Villiage, but don't make a special trip from Midtown as I did.

Truth be told I just relocated from Astor Place (3 short blocks from Porchetta) to Midtown. So I will definitely be missing this neighborhood gem. I made sure to visit Porchetta before I left the neighborhood and it was probably one of the best meals IÂ’d ever had. I ordered the Pork Ragu, which was the special of the day and it was phenomenal. being a huge pig fan, was really looking forward to trying porchetta out. we got the plates to stay after some back and forth yelling with the cashier over the super-loud music. the pork was dry, dry, dry & flavorless. the crackling bits were tasty, and wish there was 3-4x more of it. the greens were pretty savory/tasty - much better than the pork.

Underwhelming and over priced, a small pork sandwich consisting mostly of pork fat. Not worth the 11 bucks.
