After eating at Pranna I understand Gordon Ramsay in Kitchen nightmares. The food was a disgrace and does not qualify as food ! As a starter we had the crabcakes and the dumplings. The crabcakes where not spiced and the dumplings tasted the same as when I order them from Freshdirect. Then we got some flatbread which was uncooked in the middle and oily as hell. For the maincourse we had Chicken sate, which was not marinated, cold and the sate sauce was cold peanut butter with whole peanuts on top. Our other main course was Lamb, which had been rubbed with green currie and then "pounded" to death. Really, there was no structure left in the lamb. It was almost like babyfood on the bone ! And to make things even worse...I booked through opentable and since we complained about the food (we actually only had a few bites and asked them to take it away) they cancelled my open table reservation ! I paid $80 for a few drinks and these guys cancel my reservation so I cannot leave a bad review at open table and they cheat me out of my open table points.

I found out about this restaurant from reading an article on the about “Pranna being the new Sapa for the Flatiron District”. So I decided to plan my husband's 30 dinner party for 10 people, having never been to this restaurant, it did not disappoint in any way. From the moment you walk in, the space is huge and its modern, airy decor is breathtaking. They have several rooms and areas to match your tastes and the type of meal or event you want to have. Last but not least, the food was impeccable; we ordered some satays as appetizers which were so flavorful and had these sauces to go with it that were very exotic. Our dinner portions were good sizeable portions and each dish was well done and was presented well. I would def recommend going to Pranna to have a wonderful dinner or small plates for a special occasion or just to catch up with friends and family. Congratulations to the Sharma’s and Chef Chai Trevedi for this wonderful addition to NYC.

After our failed attempt to have lunch at Bar Breton our group of 3 headed around the corner to Pranna with high hopes and hungry bellies. The space is well done and impressive. Unfortunately, the small lunch crowd is relegated to an upper dining area that has a view of the main floor. I understand the management's choice to keep the lunch crowd in a smaller area but the appeal of Pranna is the beautiful main dining room. Overall the food was quite good but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Specifically, none of the service or wait staff had a working knowledge of the English language and that alone led to multiple mistakes including, ordering and splitting the check. To be fair, we came in with very high expectations and little patience after dealing with the mess that is Bar Breton but a restaurant that aspires to be high end should at least have a trained wait staff. Period. End of story. Our group will give Pranna another go in six months if they happen to survive.
