This place is the best! You feel like royalty when you dine there and the food is always exceptional! The tableside caesar salad is ridiculous and the steaks are always cooked the way you order them. The martinis are a must and the dessert is outrageous!!! If you've never been before, get there NOW.

Steak (Park Ave South Filet) could not have been better. Based on the steak alone I would have rated the food a 10 were it not for the cocktail (Hurricane's Eye) being a bit too watery, the crab cake being good but not NYC's freshest, and chocolate souffle being rather bland (and the server broke the crust for us! That's like them bringing out a birthday cake and blowing out the candles for you!). Service was a touch slow (not excessive), but they were short of staff. Bright, clean, modern decor promotes a loud dining room, and there was 1990s pop music playing (not what one expects at one of NYC's best steakhouses). But all in all an excellent value well above par for a NYC steakhouse, and worthy of NYMag's Editor's Choice and 2 stars. A solid, safe bet, especially if you crave an incredible steak.

I work next door to this fantastic restaurant. I have eaten here about 20 times. The steaks are simply incredible! I Sometimes order them medium rare (sometimes even with extra char medium rare), and sometimes order them medium. The are always done to perfection and are served EXACTLY the way I ordered them. The Caesar salad is outstanding, and since they prepare it at the table, they are happy to toss in the little extra garlic I like, and some balsamic vinegar and Worcestchire sauce I like! Everything but everything I have ever ordered here (and I think I covered the menu) has been perfect. The service is wonderful and I just cannot figure out where any review less enthusiatic than mine could come from. If there is anyone I really want to show quality and hospitality above anything they will experience anywhere, I will take them here with pride and confidence.

I've been to Primehouse 3 times now and have been extremely impressed every time. The quality of the food is outstanding and it's simply the best Filet Mignon I have ever eaten - and that is in comparison to all the top steakhouses in NY and London. The service is impecable, the waiters all know the menu inside out and are also very knowledgeable about their wines. The Decor is simple and elegant. A few friends have had to wait for their tables on Friday nights, but I have never encountered this problem.

If I had written a review after my first experience here, it would have been a rave - one of the best meals I've had at a steakhouse in New York. But after going again on New Year's Eve (which, I know, is a *fool's errand*), I have to rate this as simply average overall. The second visit was just awful - we had a large table at which none of us really enjoyed our outrageously priced meal. Every course was subpar. My ribeye was underdone, then cooked a little longer, then just simply inedible. A shame, but they have a lot of work to do. Sweet staff, tho.

My family and I went to the Primehouse and had arguably the worst meal I have had in the ten years I have been going to the City. Every steak was charred to the point where it was either inedible or had to be scraped to make it edible. The waiter tried to justify it by saying that if I would cut into it more I would see that it was cooked correctly. I told him I couldn't get past the burned taste to be able to tell. He took it back and brought me another that was only slightly better. I was able to eat less than 10% of my $50 steak. The waiter informed us that they had been having problems adjusting the grill and also informed the manager of my situation. The manager never came to the table to acknowledge this or apologize. Disappointing would be an understatement. I have been treated better at Outback Steak House. The positives were the decor which is very chic and the sides (fries with truffle butter, wild mushrooms, asparagus and onion rings) were fantastic. Unfortunately, not worth one tenth of the almost $600 we paid for our meal.

Overpriced for sub-par steak

Wedge salad was $12 and it was a few slices of tomatoes and few cross cuts of romaine. Ordered the $39 classic Filet Mignon medium rare...got a medium to medium well steak with so much charring on the outside that it resembled and tasted like a charred tennis ball. For the price and all of the touting of the product, the kitchen should be able to cook a better filet mignon. Might try again just because I live a few blocks away and hope that this was a one time mistake but Houston's is serving a much better steak IMHO.
