A tourist point of view

A went with some friends while visiting New York. My experience with the service was not good at all and when complaining with the manager (who was the chef) his attitude was not of acceptance but very critical of my opinion. They don't care what customers believe and they are only focused in getting more people in and charge a value that is too expensive for what they have to offer.

As a U.S. Ambassador I have had the chance to visit many places around the world. Public reviews were high so were my expectations. The food is just average, service is something they need to improve and courtesy and respect something they must learn. They have an overall value that is O.K. for a fast-food place but unacceptable for a high price bistro.

I saw the reviews for this restaurant and lived nearby hoping to find a nice place for a date. The food was mediocre, the staff was very rude from the desk to the wait staff, to the very smug chef/owner. Also they did not honor our appointment, as we waited for 20 minutes with several empty tables in clear view. Not worth it-not even to try.
Poor value for the money

What used to be a nice different place has lost its charm and it's now full of arrogance enjoying its "celebrity minute" But forgetting who was backing up success guarantees an "out of the scene" sooner or later. Overcrowded to the point of being uncomfortable, service is poor and management is worst. But what really turns me off is the disrespect for customers.

I read the other reviews, many from Nolita which are related with the owners, and I disagree. The place is overcrowded and the service is bad. The manager/chef is nasty and doesn't know what service is about. They don't care of customers. Yeah! they are full of patrons now but that will change soon.
Service makes the difference

I visited this place with my brother. The ambiance looked nice at first sight but with the pass of time it was too overcrowded. Food was decent but service was very low. Price was to high for which they have to offer. I will never come back and certainly I wouldn't recommend it.

The food wasn't anything special. I expected much better based on their prices. But the service was horrible. We made a reservation, and when we arrived (on time), we still had to wait 20 minutes, even though half the place was empty. The hostess first ignored us when we arrived, then after getting her to talk to us, she told us to wait in the bar. After 5 minutes, we asked them again whether we could be seated, since there were so many tables available. They told us no, and that they'll call us when our table was ready. After 15 minutes had passed, we asked again, and this time we pointed out at least 8 or 9 separate tables were empty since we came in, and they said "Oh, um, those are reserved". I replied that I had made a reservation also. They ignored me and just kept chatting with each other... How Rude!!! After debating with my friends for a few minutes about which restaurant to change to, they finally came over and seated us. After all that, we had to subject ourselves to rude waiters also. It just seems like they don't want any business, and that they're tired of their jobs. I don't know how this place remains in business.

An absolutely horrible dining experience. The food was subpar, the service was slow, and we were ushered out to the lounge to make room for new customers. When I asked to see a manager, he was rude and defensive. I will never eat there again and intend to bash it thoroughly. Public SUCKS!!!

food was unmemorable, good champagne cocktail though; decor drew us in, but as place filled up was noisy and restaurant was filled with dreadful house music, not fun but annoying. waiter was a dickhead; very snobbish; bathroom decor was high point

The food was good and the design of the restaurant is very cozy and inviting. In overall I have been there for drinks many times. After my dinner experience I was very disappointed. The service was very bad and the waiter was very rude to my guests and to me. He was not professional even though the management tried to convince me that he was. Four of my guests complaint to the manager about the unprofessional management of the place. They overcharged us for the wine so make sure you remember the price on the wine list because it might not be the same on the final check. Also make sure to check with your bank statement because your credit card might be charged twice (it happened to me). Dining should be pleasant and fun. Unfortunately mine was not. I am very disappointed in overall and they should hire more professional staff because good food only does not keep the customers. As I mentioned before, the bar is fine but the dinning was a bad experience.
