Has the floor to be sticky? The bathroom a mess? The white rain cocktail is worth it --- plus you do not need to step into the dark dining room. The food is not.

I've been three times now and each was a wonderful experience. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is trendy and relaxing, and the food is flavorful and refreshing. The shrimp rolls (crispy and grilled) are perfect and so are the mojitos. My favorite entree is the duck fajitas, although I also recommend the sirloin. Don't leave without ordering the chocolate torte dessert...if you're a chocolate lover, this is for you. My favorite restaurant!

Rain on the Upper Westside is a winner. While the room has a certain no “top designer décor” appearance, it is the only minor weakness. The menu and particularly the execution from the kitchen is top notch. The dishes are very close to what one would eat both on the streets as well as in better restaurants in Hanoi, Bangkok, Jakarta or Kula Lumpur. Each dish seems prepared to order and the flavors run deep. The wait staff are informative, attentive and a delight. A pleasant Rain has come as a welcome relief to mediocre Upper Westside dining.

Although it has been pointed at for its recent transition into a more conservative menu, those who know Thai food will not be disapointed. I spent some time in the country, and Rain has taken the traditional style of its food, adding to it with a more elegant style. Its concise with its taste and is emphasized with the right glass of wine. Dinner is a bit better than lunch, but both satiate the taste buds in a chef's well thought out plan. Very good Thai food for NYC.
