While the previous commenter may have a point, the cat-friendly deli is--in my opinion--the neighborhood's best. The specialty sandwiches are all good-to-very good; the breakfast options are all spot on; and the coffee is tasty and hot all morning [Not quite sure what else a corner deli ought to offer] The countless options make Ray's a super deli--yes, there are too many to count. Aside from the presence of friendly cats--which I have no reason to believe has any bearing on what you're eating [I haven't seen cats near any food]--one thing about Ray's makes me nervous: the dishes displayed under glass (mozeerlla/basil/tomato salad, tuna salad, etc...) that appear to left out for long periods of time. I'm not sure how frequently these dishes are made anew, but I'm inclined to stick to made to order options. Lastly, the service is great. Try this place out!

So a cat walks into a deli... (Unfortunately this isn't the begining of a good joke)

Well, that's exactly what I found this morning walking into Ray's Super Deli on Hudson bt/w Morton & Barrow. My office just moved to the neighborhood, and I was trying to find my new local sausage egg and cheese place - though I only ordered egg whites on a roll - honest - (and once again, I'm on the prowl...) Just like the cat I followed down the street, and into the deli. I was a little curious about said cat walking into a deli, but nobody batted an eye. I watched it go behind the cooking counter, and proceeded to sit on a shelf sipping water out of a little to-go tin container - RIGHT NEXT TO A PILE of FRESH EGGS!!!! I was incredulous! I couldn't believe what I was looking at, and didn't think anyone else would either, so I took a picture with my cell phone. It's a little grainy, but you can definitely see what's going on! Just wanted to share my morning's "tail" with you. Thanks for ruining my appetite Ray's!
