One of the best
By ryzyst on 10/22/2012
If you're looking for low cost, tasy Mexican food (no pomegranate margaritas here) this is the best I've had in New York. Quesadillas are made with freshly made, hand-pressed tortillas. Their salsas are fantastic. Ask for the chile de arbol. If they have any around it's a rare treat - an oily red spicy salsa. The soups and caldos all have rich broths, especially the birria and pozole. If you have an appetite skip the tacos, tortas, etc. and ask for one of the daily specials. The owners are from Michoacan, as opposed to Puebla, where over 90% of Mexicans in new York are from, thus the food is different than most neighborhood spots in New York. Only draw back is that service is sometimes slow and the music in the dining room can get loud at times.

Better than Mexico
By giorgionadi on 2/10/2011
I have been eating pozole all my life and this is by far the best pork stock that I have ever had. Spicy, rich, and perfectly seasoned. Plus if you sit at the counter and run out of "gravy" as the ladies call the soup broth, they will gladly ladle some more fiery goodness into your bowl. Only caveat. Better bring your Spanish-speaking friend if you want to eat here..or just know how to pronounce " PO-SO-LAY " A very special place. Worth a trip to the Bronx.

Incredible tortillas
By stumpykid on 4/16/2010
Some of the best tortillas I've ever had. Thick and flavorful, almost a missing link between a run of the mill tortilla and a pupusa. I would recommend ordering a few tacos each and a quesadilla to share. The tortas are also great. If you ever find yourself in this part of the Bronx, make sure you stop by for lunch.
