Great choice if you are looking for a reasonably priced (but nice) midtown business dinner location. Pricier and blander than I'd recommend for a real night out, though may be OK for a group. Everything straight down the middle. Suggest getting a corner or side table as it can get noisy.

We went there for lunch quite by accident -- just happened to walk by and it looked ok. The food was delicious -- three of us split three appetizers: artichokes, fresh sardines, and scallops. All three were really unusually good. I had a lovely salad and my friends split a pasta (of which I had a bite -- also lovely). We split two desserts, tiramisu and the lemon mousse cake. Tiramisu was fine and the lemon cake was really, really good. I read these other reviews saying the food was only ordinary and I can't believe they ate at the same restaurant. We were there quite recently (St. Patricks Day 2008).

Food was good, decor fine. Lived in NY most of my life and was trying to make a show. Everything was fine until I tried to get my coat for 10 minutes before asking the maitre 'd to assist me, which he seemed to ignore my request. Waited 10 more minutes until my showtime to ask the maitre 'd once more if there was something he could do. His reply was "Areverderchi this is NY get used to it". I dine thoughout the city on a regular basis and have never incountered this rude attitude at any restaurant that I have dined. I would have to say I will never return.

Do You Want to Do Lunch?

As many mid-block mid-50's restaurants, Remi is most popular among the business lunch crowd. And at lunch it does a very good job of serving quality Italian/Venetian cuisine. Outside the lunch period, the place is much more quiet and the service seems to suffer. A reliable choice.

Its Just Business!

This is a nice, convenient place for business lunches. The food is of a high standard in terms of presentation and tastiness. But its not at all memorable. I can't say I have ever been disappointed by anything nor have I been overwhelmed and since its right next door to my office, I go there all the time. And still I struggle to describe favorite dishes because I have none. The good news (and why I like to go there) is no one in your party will be distracted by the food so you can focus on business. It is of course on the pricey side - good spot for business but don't go back on your own.

Nice digs. Competent-but-boring food and service.

I've eaten here twice on business--one lunch and one dinner. Lunch was better than dinner, but neither was particularly outstanding, and in a neighborhood with so many choices in the upscale-Italian-business-meal category, I'd choose to go elsewhere.
For dinner tonight I had a baby beet and mache salad with goat cheese. The goat cheese was nice, but the beets were far from "baby," and the and the mache was shockingly bland. The overall effect wasn't bad, but it was far from the delicate flavor cacophony I'd anticipated. My snapper with tomatoes and olives was similarly competent-but-boring. The fish was well prepared, but the tomatoes and olives were flaccid and flavorless.
Service, too, is on the underwhelming side. The pepper-grinder guy was like a robot, grinding for a set amount of time and stopping even when no pepper was coming out.
Still, it all works for business meals--assuming you don't want to be distracted from business by food talk.

Wonderful food and ambiance.Pretty ,vast spatial architecture with fabulous painting of Venice Canal life surrounds the restaurant. Great service.A bit noisy due to acoustics.tables a bit too close for my comfort.(Ask for a corner booth,or table.)Expensive, but worth it.(Ask for the $30.00 Prix-Fixe menu)

Spacious Northern Italian gem with lovely artwork. Nice wine list from many regions. Had appetizer sampler, a great mix of special appetzers. Main course was a Remi signiture dish of ravioli stuffed with lobster, in a superb sauce. Large portions. Service could use a lift. Nice spot for post theatre meal.
