I love Republic and I've been there several times. The drinks and appetizers are my favorite aspects. My only gripe is wishing they were bigger. Delicious sauces and sips with tastes you've rarely tried. The entrees are very unique and I always feel like I'm eating healthy and fresh food. The "cafeteria-style" seating and noise level is to be loved or hated. I love it with a big group and for meeting new people who are randomly seated beside you. Not good for a 1st date b/c of the noise level, but great if you have nothing to say to them anyway! (Awkward blind dates) Definitely not a place for children...adult cafeteria!

I have gone back to Republic a couple times now. It has great food and great service for not too much $moolah$. Their Pad Thai is excellent, as is their spicy coconut chicken, and spicy beef. The only downfall is that when it is busy, it is loud -- expect to be saying "what?" every few minutes. Go for the food, service, and price but not for the atmosphere.

I have eaten here a few times. Every time the food has been excellent! The blood orange mojito is by far the BEST mixed drink I have ever had. There is this rice dish with tomato paste and shrimp and chinese sausage it was to die for!

I can't stay away from Republic, it calls my name. I just moved into the city recently, but I had been there a couple times before, when I was just visiting. Try their shrimp appetizer--amazing! Also, they have fabulous drinks. A bit noisy, but if you're young and like to have fun, why not? Sure you could end up next to a loud-mouthed idiot, or--next to an awesome couple who you end up having drinks WITH...later on...try it, at least!!

Filled with an excited young vibe, Republic is a cool trendy place to take your visitors, friends or a date when you want a fun dining experience that won’t empty your pocketbook. Due to the open atmosphere of the restaurant, you should not plan on having any serious business meetings here and it may not be the kind of place for small children, especially if they are prone to loud outbursts, which will travel even more in this setting. check ou my full review on http://www.epinions.com/content_193290538628

The salmon in itself is good not great. However, everything else (curry rice w/ raisins and carrot slices) put it over the top for me. The melody of flavors going on in this dish is very pleasant. It's a matter of bang for the buck and Republic has the bang.

We were greeted by a snappy hostess telling us to stay behind a certain line, because there really was no clear place to get on the list, and the person with the list didn't ever make eye contact, but once we were seated, the experience was awesome. The food was fresh, a new spin on old stuff, with some new stuff. I agree w/ whoever said it resembles wagamama's. The service after being seated was extremely fast, and polite. Don't try to keep a conversation up over the din though.

As a huge fan of the Wagamama chain in London, I was delighted to discover Republic, the closest thing in NYC. Sure, the tables are shared, the benches are hard but the food is terrific, the prices moderate, the service efficient and it's a lot of value!
