Gathered together with a group of 16 friends on Saturday for a whole pig feast. We started next door at the resto offshoot, the cannibal...cool little beer bar. What followed was a 4 hour, 5 course family style served delight. All cuts from the pig were served in a variety of ways. All tasted great but i was pleasantly surprised with the BBQ pork ribs. And for those who are not big meat eaters, we had two vegetarians in the group and they made special plates for them with each course. The service was attentive, the staff knowledgable and a great beer selection to boot. Skip lunch if you plan to feast. Looking forward to going back and ordering off the menu to see how it compares

While in NYC, I asked a friend for recommendations where to eat... She said I had to try the moules & frites at Resto. Was a lil far away from hotel but went on Sunday evening... VERY worth the trip!! They were having a pre-fixe dinner for the evening which I choose to participate with a wine/beer paring. What a spectacular dinner!! And the wait staff was so friendly and attentive! Much better than dinner at a celeb chef rest the night before!! Funny thing is I still haven't tried the moules & frites... Guess I just have to go back next time in NYC :-)

Sorry, but I dont even know what that slogan is supposed to mean- maybe it should be "bringing nasty back?" I was super excited to try this place, and let me say that underwhelmed is an overstatement. First off, all this hype about the tete de cochon is BS. Aside from the fact that this appetizer was bigger than a BLT from Larry's Giant Subs, it tasted on par with it's discrepancy in size and delicacy. Huge slabs of grilled bread with weird pickled nonsense and some tough pieces of pig head isnt exactly what I consider ideal, but maybe thats just me. Moving on, the scallop appetizer was definitely tasty although landed on the other side of the size chart- which would have been nice if the waitress informed me of that as I ordered it for my main course....My boyfriends pasta tasted exactly like what it looked like- pasta, mushrooms, broccoli rabe (i think it was just broccoli), and guanciale- no real punch in the flavor combo's or seasonings that we could taste (or see). Yea yea the ice cream sundae was good, but who couldn't make that in their own home for half the price? Maybe we ordered wrong, but even so I don't think I'd give it another shot.

I have to disagree with the previous reviewer, because my Restaurant Week experience at Resto was pretty great. Personally I don't know why anyone would order a salad as an appetizer when you could get the fantastic Bitter Ballen. I could pretty much live on a diet of that combined with a delicious Saison. The pork ribs and moules & frites were very tasty, and a supplement order of frites almost left us too full for the waffel desert. The service was attentive and the bar staff very knowledgeable. I don't know if our pre-theater dining time contributed to the quality of the experience (possibly things start to fall apart later on?), but I was very impressed and will certainly be coming back. Now if only they could put the bitter ballen permanently on the regular menu...

Do not go here for restaurant week! My boyfriend and I gave up trying to speak to each other because the noise level was unbearable. The portion sizes were pathetic - a few leaves thrown on a plate for a salad, 3 cocktail-size shrimps for an entree, and a stale chunk of waffle for dessert. All were bland. Plus we ordered $8 beers and the waitress accidentally brought us $11 beers and still charged us even though that's not what we asked for. Only plus - the wait staff was friendly. Save your money (and your eardrums) and just go to the McDonald's around the corner.

This place really is special, one look at the bar and the vast selection of beer is enough to tell you that. The menu is filled with great choices, and I highly recommend ordering a side of french fries with their selection of sauces. However, the service is average at best, which really is a shame. Most of the waitstaff have an indifferent attitude, especially when dealing with a group and therefore guaranteed a nice 18% tip. Also, the prices aren't too pleasing. I don't know why Resto was featured on Cheap Eats, because a full meal with appetizer and dessert is quite pricey. Still, it's definitely worth it to check this place out.

Although there were only 3 people there, our server still felt the need to consult the computer to make sure he could fit us in. Our first waiter did exhibit thorough knowledge of the Belgian beers and provided great recommendations, however, when in restaurants, I would prefer to use the term Â“onlyÂ” and not Â“firstÂ” waiter, especially when the place is empty My wifeÂ’s duck comfit was delicate and well spiced with pink peppercorn, while my father- in- lawÂ’s hangar steak had a nice buttery texture. This brings us to the burgers, which you can order single or double. The burger had a perfect balance of texture, taste and condiment. A reviewer criticized RestoÂ’s use of a wonder bread type bun. I believe that this bun actually works well for the single burger; however, I believe that the bun would not survive double the meat. The single burger is as filling as a white castle slider. While the fries were excellent crisp wedges, I found myself stealing off other peopleÂ’s plates and anticipating a Bread pudding that our 2nd server had no idea ever existed.

When my friend and I first sat in the cozy setting I thought that we were about to have a great meal and some nice drinks. My first draft was I guess a European size... I would have liked a pint for 6 dollars... the appetizers, the Deviled Eggs in particular were good, if not almost spare. I still had high hopes. My friend's wine choice was recommended - and she liked it. Then the muscles came out, and they were a huge let down. I enjoy Belgian Moules and Frittes... the frittes and dipping sauces were awesome - the moules were really awful... We asked out server to tell us which dipping sauce what which - she mumbled/fake told us what it was - she should have known! Also, our server left in the middle of our meal. A trainee was the one that realized that we needed another drink and that we wanted something else. For the enormity of the bill, the sub par nature of the food and service - this was not worth it and I doubt I would go back.

I work in murray hill and take clients/associates here. I like it because much of the food is local, the service is low key, and it has a downtown vibe. For Appetizers I order the tete de cochon sandwich. Otherwise, I get the burger, short rib carbonnade, moules frites, or the poulard. All are excellent.

I recently stopped by Resto to grab a drink with a friend who lives in the neighborhood. We ended up sitting at the bar for dinner and hanging out the rest of the night. We had the deviled eggs and bitter ballen to start. Both were hot, crispy, greasy, meaty. I drank a couple different beers, the chimay cinq cents and the leffe blonde. I got the burger which I was totally into, and dining pal got the steak frites. It was a cool little place, and I had to post this because I was surprised to find such a thing existed in murray hill.....
