If you want terrible service call Roomali. I would say these rolls are an insult to great street food from India and this restaurant is an insult to Indian hospitality.

I am so glad one of my friend introduce me to this place they have some delicious Rolls in town; I love the succulent Kati Rolls, they are filled with spicy alu( potatoes) chana (chea peas) and onions bathed in lime. The chaat masalas are used in the roll to give it that "tangy zing". For vegetarian lovers like me, there is tons of choices Paneer roll, Aloo egg rolls, Aloo roll, Aloo paneer roll, mixed vegetable roll, vegetable paneer roll, all low-priced and also one is a filler. The delicious aroma of these rolls can be exhilarating. Also Décor of this restaurant is so contemporary; you get the feeling of lounge and sufficient place to sit and enjoy these mouth-watering Rolls. Also the service at Roomali is pretty quick and welcoming. I go their almost twice a week when I am too lazy too cook and want something very fast or sometimes order for delivery when I am too lazy to walk . I honestly feel Roomali is must better in price, service and taste unlike other kati roll place in Village by bleecker st.

If you are a Roomali Roti fan and love to eat in the Village at Kati Roll... you are going to change your daily route after you try the rolls at Roomali (on 27th and Lexington). After just one bite of their chicken tikka roll I was hooked, lined, and sunk. One word: FRESH! They make their Roomali Roti fresh in front of you. Not frozen, as some other places do. There chicken was marinated and drenched in spices. The vegetables were not over-cooked in the rush to serve you "fast-food" and to run you out of the restaurant. On the contrary, the decor and atmoshere of the restaurant is quite spacious and inviting. Calm yet vividly awake. The service their is friendly and familiar and you will love the overall experience with all the management. When I asked one of the cooks there if I could please have some chutney and extra onions... it was done to perfection. No hassles. No annoyed faces. No upsetting looks. Just great service. It's great for a hang out place as well as a family lunch spot. I promise, once, and you will be hooked!

When it comes to inexpensive food, I love Kathi Rolls. But it IS all the way downtown. So, it was a magical moment when I first heard of this new restaurant opening midtown with the same concept. This place is comparable in price, bigger in size and more accessible to Midtowners. The taste is very different though. Whereas Kathi Rolls reminds me of the delicious kathi rolls available at Nizam's of New Delhi (I have explored all the nooks and crannies of this earth!), the food here lacks in something. Maybe they need to marinate their "paneer" for longer? The rolls were a little dry. The service is polite and prompt, while you can find a seat here on a cold night, unlike the cramped Kathi Rolls downtown.
