This place has always been a favorite, not just in the Slope, but an NYC favorite. My bf and I were relieved to find that the new chef is great, and maybe the best chef they've had. We had dinner there last Friday and loved everything. Parsnip soup with pear. Grilled octopus with pinenut relish was some of the best octopus I've ever had - smokey, great texture. Suckling pig confit entree was to die for and striped bass with forbidden rice was subtle but fantastic. It came with something called musque de provence squash consomme that was earthy and fine. Fish was fresh and perfect. At $29 and $24 the entrees weren't cheap, but they were both home runs and worth every penny. Desserts have always been good, if not as flashy as the rest of the menu. Toasted almond ice cream was simple and sublime. Wine list is always interesting and fun. We had a bottle of blaufrankish (sp?) that was great value. Can't wait to go back!

We recently enjoyed Rose Water tremendously. We had been before, and always had a lovely time and were looking forward to trying the new chef. The food was amazing! The potato salad with the jasmine aoli was creative and delicious. We shared a rich, flavorful risotto, and I had the duck breast. Just thinking about it now , makes my mouth water. Perfectly seasoned and seared. The panna cotta for desert was also spectacular. Highly recommended. The brunch is also an amazing meal. Though the waits can be a little long for a table. Check it out!!!

Very disappointing food and experience. We heard that there was a new chef, but decided to try it anyway. Quality of food has really fallen. Practically inedible. Very sad, as it used to be quite good. And the prices have risen. Won't be going back, until current chef is gone.

Were it in Manhattan, Rosewater could jack up their prices and compete with the hautest of the haute. Thankfully it's in Brooklyn, land of lower overhead and easier reservations. One can't pick a favorite dish since the menu changes almost daily, but regular standouts include the pork chop served with seasonal fruits, and seasonal (that word comes up a lot) mushrooms - morels, royal trumpets - grilled and served in a rich savory wine-and-butter "soup" (don't forget to dip the bread in there!) The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is casual but reserved, completely without pretension - this is all about the love of great, fresh food. It's like having a little slice of Gramercy Tavern in Park Slope. Let the borough-phobic stay that way. They don't know what they're missing.

This restaurant features surprises for your mouth. The food is so good here that you just keep on wanting more. One dish that was so unusual for me was the Spanish Tortilla, which is a combination of eggs and potatos .The meze plate with the three dips is a tantalizing beginning for more delicious things to come. Try the grilled market peach and tomato bruschetta ,basil and feta.It just melted in my mouth . The ranch pork chop was just marvelous along with the onions ,tomatillo and Swiss chard. The service was friendly and attentive .The whole area is a little small and not suitable for large groups.

This is the best food in the Slope hands down!!! The service is great and the staff if friendly. The space is a bit small and it gets rather noisy but over all this is the best restaurant in Brooklyn
