I was there with my girl as she insisted that she wanted to eat french food.We were there for lunch around 3.30 on Monday.Amazed by the service, the waiter handed us the menu and left us wondering as for him he was busy texting on his phone.Another annoying thing, a handyman was drilling a door in the restaurant.Wow!I work in upscale food industry n was kinda amazed seeing that. Finally when we asked the waiter to wrap our food n i was kind enough to hand him the plate but he had lot of attitude. He flatly said someone would be right with u.Finally i saw a manager in corner putting the light down for the dinner and he came closer but even didn't care how we were doing.I thought of giving 10%tip but my girl ask me to leave more and did 18%though he didn't desere it.

For a simple order of two omelettes and a baggle with salmon we had to wait for 25 minutes! Terrible! A bad way to start the new year!

This place is an absolute gem- right in the middle of Mid-town Manhattan, here's a little slice of Paris! Excellent food, served hot and with great attitude and service, from appetizer to dessert- the entire establishment sends an air of people who really care abut what they do. If not for the conversations around us, my dinner party said they would never know they weren't in France- a solid Ten, not to be missed... And very reasonably-priced, too.

We walked around searching for somewhere to eat, we should of planned ahead, but fortunately we came across Rue 57, which turned out to be better then we expected. Justin, our waiter, gave the best service in such a busy and diverse environment. The steak Au Poivre was 5 star, and my first taste of New York cheese cake raised the bar of what perfection taste like.

We just ate there and it was - well crap food.. Everything we ordered was covered in salt. Did not matter the dish it was drowned. Burger, Chicken covered in vinegar and salt, beef bourgeon two hunks of meat covered in salt. Though it was busy and looked good from the outside they must rely on position and tourists for business because you'd never go back

Try the Saturday night sea scallop special, it is to die for! We were going to a show at Carnegie, and wanted to grab some dinner beforehand. We randomly picked this place and loved the choice! Great meal!

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THE FIRST REVIEW.... WE WENT TO DINNER THERE LAST WED. EVENING FOR MY SISTER'S BIRTHDAY DINNER, AND WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED....THE WAITRESS BECAUSE SHE WAS AUTOMATICALLY GETTING HER 20&% BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE REALLY SHOWED HER NASTY SIDE... IF IT WASN'T FOR MY SISTER'S BIRTHDAY, WE WOULD HAVE LEFT... MY SON-IN-LAW DID COMMENT TO HER ON OUR DISAPPOINTMENT, AND SHE COULD HAVE CARED LESS... NEVER GOING BACK THERE, AND I WISH I COULD FIND OUT WHO THE OWNER IS, AND SEND THEM A MESSAGE AS WELL.. DONNA IN BOLTON LANDING, NY

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY at Rue 57. I am a native New Yorker who has eaten in both high end and more casual eateries in New York City all of my life and I can tell you from experience that this place should be closed down. Went to dinner at 11:00 PM on a warm Sun. evening in July 2010 with two other adults and asked the Hostess to seat us in a cooler area of the restaurant (they keep all their doors open with their air conditioner running so that you don't feel the cool air). She sat us at a table in the warmer section of the restaurant. We picked ourselves up and told her we were changing our table to sit under an area with a ceiling fan. Our waiter was initially attentive - translation: he was in a rush to take our order. The busboy brought out a small basket of bread, while we waited for our meals. When the meals came, (very small portions of not particularly tasty food for very large prices), we asked for a fresh basket of bread and our request was ignored. WE ABSOLUTELY COULD NOT get the attention of any worker in this restaurant. The staff is so busy literally running around the restaurant that they can't see customers waiving their arms frantically trying to get their attention. Cannot get your water glass refilled either. I flagged over the Hostess to let her know that we had requested a bread refill when our meals were served and it never came. As we took the last bite of our meal, a busboy brought over the bread - too late! -CONTINED BELOW.

Our waiter found the time to throw dessert menus on our table before running away again. When he returned, we asked for our check. We paid in cash and, unfortunately, we left a tip. As we AGAIN tried to flag down our waiter to hand him payment for the bill, he ran right passed us. Another waiter saw us waiving our hands and he literally scooped the money out of my hand as he ran past our table and blurted out that our waiter was busy. I replied, "I can see that." This waiter then made a sarcastic, snide remark to me as he ran away with my money around a corner of the restaurant where he could not be seen. I was flabbergasted at the incredibly rude behavior of this waiter to a paying customer. If that wasn't bad enough, as we approached the Manager on the way out to report the staff's rudeness, our original waiter came running after us and had the nerve to ask the Manager if we had paid the bill. Where was this waiter when we were trying to hand him the bill payment? Too busy buzzing back and forth and up and down stairs to notice any of his customers waiving frantically trying to get his attention. We gave the Manager an earful about his poorly run restaurant and left. I only wish I had run after the rude waiter who scooped up my money so I could take back my tip! DO NOT EAT HERE!
