My last visit was at around 10 am, fresh off a plane ride and from a very early start. The cappucino was perfect and the assortment of breakfast and brunch fare was incredibly good. My guest and I enjoyed the food, the ambiance, and some leisure at our table while others came and went. This is a place I go out of my way to visit.

On Monday, July 20th, 2009, My best friend and I were out on a beautiful New York evening!!!!!! This is not the first time that we decide to visit this restaurant establishment at the spur of the moment to have dessert and PROSECCO!!!! We asked to be seated on the outside area because IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL NIGHT!! the host asked us if we were having dinner!!! We said that no that we were only going to have wine and dessert. This is not the first time that we decide to visit this specific place because its just a couple of doors down to best friends' home!!! He then basically told us that he was not able to seat us because he wanted to hold a table for potential guests that may come because of the MOVIE. We are resident of this NEIGHBOR and this restaurant does not appreciate it's REGULAR clientale. Tomorrow the MOVIE CAST will clear out, Who are they going to serve then???!!!!

The service was exquisite, the decor was very comfortable, European and pleasant but I was amazed how overpriced the food and drink were. If you're charging $12, $14 or even $18 a glass for wine it needs to be better than the vintage you can pick up at your corner grocery. Same goes with the food, I had a simple chicken salad panini for a late lunch and while it was good, it wasn't $14 good. Perhaps the Italian dishes are wonderful enough to be worth the high price tag but I suspect not.

I went to this darling restaurant on a beautiful Wednesday night. Came straight from work and barely ate lunch, I needed something hearty. The friendly bartender recommended Risotto. Sure enough, it was up to my expectation. The service is very attentive and the staffs are friendly and happy. Make sure you try the cookies and cake from the bakery on site. I will definetely come back , even if it breaks my rule of "never go to the same resaurant again in Manhattan."

When it was on Madison Avenue, nothing was more special than standing at the bar of Sant Ambroeus, sipping what had been the best cappucino I'd had, and, okay, tossing in a few of their buttery cookies. The ambiance was perfect with a real feel of Italy. I loved the one in South Hampton also. So I was excited to have one opening in our neighborhood. However, we went there for coffee and it had nothing to do with the coffee I remembered. Breakfast is expensive. The croissants were dry and flavorless. It's in the area of the West Village now becoming a bit gentrified (with Ralph Lauren and other designers opening shops), so it could fit in, but it's not as good as other local coffee houses and certainly not up to par with the other two with the same name.
