A critic's choice?? Not by a long shot

I chose this place based on the selection as a critic's choice. It wasn't great and I am surprised that NY Mag would have it as a critic's choice! I would not recommend this place, I must say. The good: Interesting layout overall. It had a nice romantic feel. We were greeted by a friendly host and the wait staff were pleasant. Specials sounded good. My husband had a good osso bucco stuffed ravioli special and liked it. Wines by the glass were good. The bad: The menu is limited. And the food isn't that great. I had a fat laden porterhouse with soggy side dishes. When we asked for butter for the bread? They don't have that. Yes, really. They don't serve tap water. We had to buy still or sparkling bottled water--weird.

Don't listen to the waiter reviews. Our waiter, Danielle, was excellent. They know their food there and they know how to eat and enjoy. I don't eat out in Queens often, but this is a must go and i thought the entire concept of the place was great. Excellent food, music, wine, etc. This is one of the top Italian places i have been to. Does it compare to Babbo, perhaps not, but I would say it compares favorably with Lupa.

So many of the readers' reviews were negative, especially about the service, so we went expecting the worst. We were pleasantly surprised. Not only was the food fabulous, but our waiter was charming and professional. If you want to have the food your way, go to Burger King. If you want authentic Italian cuisine at its finest, this is the place.

Food was different but very good. Pricey by Queens standards, but not by Manhatten. The ambiance was nice, enjoyed the music. Had rabbit and pork chop (it was not a double cut as advertised) Our issue was the waiter: seemed haughty. When we did not order a bottle of wine, he wrinkled his nose. They seem to prefer foodies as clientele. But I would go back, and do buy cheeses there often

The Food at Sapori is out of this world but they have to do something about the service. I have been to many restaurants and this was by far the worst service I have ever seen. The waiters: "non existent". We asked for a second bottle of Bottled Water and it never arrived. My wife asked for a glass of wine and it never arrived either. When we asked about anything, the waiter would say "If it's not in the menu, we Can't make it". Now, remember we were asking to replace the Parmesan cheese for a different cheese or even no cheese. The worst $240.00 my wife and I have ever spent.

My wife and I went here when we first moved to Queens a year ago. It's great. You know all the food is made with great ingredients. The staff was very pleasant. It is a bit pricey, considering you're not in the city and in Woodside--in a very desolate area. But, the quality is not to be beaten. Bring some extra cash (no credit cards) and enjoy an amazing meal.

Who would have guessed that a wholesale grocer hidden in the industrial part of Queens would provide an incredible dining experience? Fettucine Al'Antonio is fabulous, and their carpaccio is to die for. Not exactly the health conscious with the use of butter and (truffle)oil, but it is worth the next few weeks you'll be hitting the gym! Many things have changed since I first discovered the place in 2000. Friendliness and colorful charms of waitstaff were swapped with arrogant and pushy types, but the food is better than ever. A visit to an ATM is a must before coming here if you're leaving home without Amex. And yes, they don't serve tap water.
