We enjoyed our meal at this quaint UES restaurant. The sashimi was delicious and extremely fresh. The first course is served the moment you arrive at the table. Since there was no menu and the special was "Trust Me", we weren't exactly sure what to expect. After about 6 courses of sashimi, we were stuffed. We were happy until we received the bill and were shocked to see that the meal was about $97 each plus drinks and gratuity. The food was good but if I wanted to pay Nobu prices I would have expected a much better atmosphere and location. We thought this small gem was a steal but we were the ones being robbed. No wonder the staff was so thankful as we walked out the door.

the fish is so incredibly fresh! the sashimi starter and king crab roll ending bookend the incredible meal. the sushi comes out on warm rice to maximize the flavors of the fish, for a truly melt in your mouth experience. after the 7-8 or so chef's courses, he takes requests so go nuts. i've moved out of the neighborhood, but keep coming back for this gem. its small, so call ahead for reservations.

The fish is very, very, very fresh. The chef personally selects only the best at 5am every morning. And lovingly prepares every delightful, melt in your mouth course in accordance with the pace you set. One of the things I love the most is that the rice in the sushi is still warm when it gets to you and if you sit at the bar, he guides you as to how each dish should be consumed. Even though its omakase, he will take into consideration special requests (like no shellfish). My advice is to trust him - I am very particular and have only had ok experiences with uni even at some of the most upscale places in the city. The uni I ate here was wonderful - sweet, succulent and melt in your mouth fresh. Last word - either go at 12:00 noon for lunch or make reservations. It gets crowded.
