Even though this restaurant has been around for a few years, I only just made my first visit. It's part of the wonder of living in a city where there are thousands of restaurants, with new ones popping up all the time, and taking years to finally visit one. And so, I finally made it to Saxon + Parole in the East Village. For my drink I ordered the Bowery Fix (Altos blanco, mezcal, yellow chartreuse, fresh bell pepper, chili oil). This drink was incredible. A slight hint of sweetness and lots of rich heat join forces for this beverage. Solid Food, Excellent Service

Tuesday evening, around 9PM, we were warmly greeted and offered a seat at the bar for a short wait. In just a few minutes we were shown to a four top for our party of two in the back room which was comfortable, inviting and spacious. We ordered the mussels to start as they were out of the scallops. They were a decent beginning to our meal--the portion was generous, the sauce heavy on fresh tomatoes with a few capers for bite. For entreés we took the hanger steak and the pricier new york strip. Hanger steak was slightly overcooked but better seasoned and had developed a nice crust, I would order it again. The bone marow bernaise served alongside both was decent. We had a bottle of Washington Reisling and finished the meal with an Elijah Craig bourbon which couldn't have provided a sweeter finish. All in all, the meal was good but not great, the real treat of this place is the attentive service and warm ambiance.

Had the chance to dine there twice, and also have brunch once. All were excellent experiences: I found the service to be outstanding every time, I was always made to feel welcome and taken care of. The cocktail program is, I think, one of the best in the city. There seems to always be a sexy bar crowd sipping on their Manhattans (on tap) and other innovative cocktails. In general, I have found my meals there to be indulgent yet somehow healthy (lots of veggies, fresh options), the service attentive, and the decor exquisite. I have recommended the place to many and look forward to a next visit.

Have now been here for dinner 2 times and brunch as well. They just seem to know how to make so many dishes so well that you can keep on coming and trying new things that are delightful. The space makes you feel good with all of the amber light and cool decor and all the pretty people hanging at the bar. It was full at 5:30 on a Tuesday so they must be doing something right with the drinks too. I am more of a wine person so I veered that way. Nice selects but would have added a few more California favorites. All in all, big fan.

My companion and I both enjoyed our meals - I had the potato cake take on Eggs Benedict which was very flavorful and my friend had the burger which was enjoyed. Great bread basket, great drinks. On a minor note the coffee was terrific. Service was attentive, space is attractive. Only had a fraction of the menu but would go back again.

I was pleasantly surprised of how well this almost brand new restaurant did their thing when I had dinner there on Saturday night. It was a busy night and I had been fortunate to snag a table for and my girlfriend through OpenTable earlier in the week. We were seated after just a short wait at the bar where we enjoyed some great cocktails; I had the maple pecan sazerac, and my girlfriend had some yellow drink in a big coupe. They were both great and the bartenders seemed to know their trade. We had a great bottle of wine or a great price recommended by our server, and started with some oysters and one of their mushroom pots that you read about everywhere. The oysters were almost painstakingly fresh, and it was cool to see an oyster I had never heard about before; Totten Inlets that are East coast oysters farmed on the West coast, really cool. We shared the ribeye for two as a main and had a side of the cauliflower and both dishes were great. The steak comes with a hefty price tag, but it was definitely worth it. We finished up with the christmas pudding which tasted great, although a surprise to see on the menu in October. Overall, the dinner was great and service impressed us with their knowledge. Our server caught that I was peeking at the pictures of the two horses that are hanging in the main dining room and told me their stories which was fun and interesting. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone in to food and cool places with a great vibe!
