Classic NYC Gem

After coming off from a week long trip in Paris and London, I ate at a few well known establishments The Fat Duck and Le Meurice(too name a few). The following week, my fiance mentioned we try Scalini Fedeli after an invitation from the chef/owner Michael himself. The decor and ambiance was grand, tucked away in the little park off Hudson and Duane in Tribeca you could not ask for a better location/setting. The wait staff was very attentive yet let you wine, dine, and talk without being disrupted. Most importantly, the food was amazing and I can honestly say the BEST MEAL I'VE HAD IN NYC over the past 6 years hands down. Price was spot on for the delicious food, impeccable service, and serene atmosphere. 10's all around for Michael and Scalini Fedeli, truly a classic NYC gem.

This is my favorite go to restaurant for a special meal! I was taken there for my 30th birthday and the welcoming warmth of the beautiful interior, the outstanding food and the amazing service instantly captivated me. 5 years later, I have taken numerous friends and family to this understated, but elegant restaurant and have continued to be impressed. My guests have all raved about it and enthusiastically mentioned going back to it on their next visit to NYC. The reviewer is spot on. This restaurant does not need to shout about how wonderful it is because anyone who has been there knows what a rare treasure this gem is.
First time but we'll be back

This is a handome place, subdued lighting, beautifully painted transom windows and copius space between most tables. The Prix Fixe menu @ $65 was a good value. There were about 20 appetizer choices and as many main courses. My wife had the fois gras appetizer ($5 supp.) and the duck and I had the bibb lettuce salad with goat cheese and the roasted scallops with cabbage. We were licking our fingers throughout the meal, so good!! The desserts were similarly delicious and the chef sent out two different amuse bouche dishes, one before the meal and one as another dessert, what a nice touch. The extensive wine lists is heavy on the Italians but there was a broad range of prices. Service was very good. It was a very nice dining experience and we'll be back. Easy free parking on the street after 7 pm.

Having heard many co-workers rave about this place, I was excited to finally try Scalini Fedeli. I was not disappointed and can agree that this is a restaurant where the Italian food feels both authentic and delicious. It is well worth the money, which is rare for Italian food in this city. The Prix Fixe is distinctive for the wonderful selection of food, notably fish. I enjoyed the Red Snapper and could actually taste all the flavors, including olives and currants. A true wino can appreciate the selection here as well. There are an abundance of reds and whites to accompany any dish you may fancy. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable about their food, which though expected seems like a luxury in many restaurants these days. The space is open and well light which much like the food is atypical for a lot of Italian eateries in this city. A great place to take anyone you might want to impress or just share a great meal with.

Set in a gorgeous, regal setting with the looks of a quaint old church somewhere in Tuscany, the room is large and dramatic but still preserves it's intimacy. This restuarant is perfect for a romantic date. I have no idea why, but last Saturday night the place was half empty. The food is incredible, meticulously prepared, but not precious or delicate. The organic chicken with broccoli rape, wild striped bass, or any of the specials are standouts. Desserts are equally delicious; try the tiramisu and praline tart-it's pure heaven. Service is knowledgeable and not intrusive. Attitude is suprisingly, and thankfully, lacking here. The couple next to us were in jeans and T's, so dress code is lax, but you will want to look fabulous while eating here. Pricey, but who cares? It's well worth it!
Italy in the city

I went there about 2 years ago and it was an amazing experience. As for expensive, I disagree with it being overly priced. You are paying for an excellent meal and it is a price I do not mind paying. Decor is beautiful and grand. Like a grand ballroom on a brisk winter night. I love the place and will continue to go and enjoy the pleasures Scalini Fedeli has to offer. A genuine experience
Hi-Grade Italian Dining in a Nice Space

Yes, it's expensive, and maybe even a little intimidating. But the chairs are very comfortable, as is the slightly subterranian space with its vaulted ceilings (at least that's how I remember it!) The Italian food here is innovative and delicious. The kitchen resists the tendency to trot out old Italian favorites in favor of fresh ingredients and new preparations. The pastas are exceptional. Good, broad-range wine list.
