One word to describe the burgers .....Trash!! Overpriced!! Quality of beef is terrible!! Don't do it to yourself...They should focus less on the ambience/smoke and mirrors and more on the product. If you're a burger connoisseur don't even think about it!!!
don't go there in good weather day

like today, I wait 30 min for just a burger and a shake. they get your food ready, but they get your order number wrong. I asked them many times, nobody realized the mistake. are you kidding me? why it's so hard to notice the difference between 106 and 16?
Best Cheese Fries In The World!

I think they have the BEST cheese fries ever! However, the rest of their food is just mediocre. <3
If you like real burgers do NOT eat here
By AnneRecommends on 10/7/2010
I can only assume the people giving this burger place 3 stars plus must normally eat at McDonalds. If you like real burgers do not eat at Shake Shack. Given the hype, I decided to try the place on UWS. First, I wasn't asked how I like my burger cooked, now that is a big sign that you will NOT be getting a quality/fresh burger. Second, it came with no garnish. Yep, that's right no lettuce, no tomato, no gherkin. Now if my memory serves me well, even McDonalds came with a slither of gherkin, right? I was shocked. In fact, I am still in shock that this place gets any high ratings at all.
Are you kidding me?

Just had my first Shake Shack burger. I am an afficionado of the beef patty. Everything about this place is a hyped-up joke. Waited on line behind 4 people for 10 minutes! Order taker disappeared for 5 minutes! Line now out the door! Another 15 mins for my burger. Drooling, crazed, would eat anything!! First bite - huh? Nice bun, pickle good...burger a tallow-flavored, mushy, greasy, oily revolting mess. Watery "juice" (read griddle fat) spurting everywhere. My mouth coated in a waxy, oily spuge that was more reminiscent of a BP spill. No way to get rid of it, either. The only other time I have experienced this kind of putrid coating was from the one Krispy Kreme donut I ate when everyone was waiting on line to get their donuts, then predicting the chain would collapse within 24 months (and it did)... only morons would eat garbage because people say it's good! I love Meyer's restaurants. This burger is an embarrassment, and a paean to the lemming-like nature of "foodies' who don't know what good food is. I didn't bother sampling their hot dogs. Papaya King is across the street. Go there instead! Seriously, You can get a better burger at any BK, the corner coffee shop, or literally ANY restaurant in NYC that has been in business for a few years, because people eventually wake up and realize they don't like to eat oily, greasy swill. I am still literally nauseous and can't get this revolting taste and coating out of my mouth. I want to drink Drano and set myself on fire!
DMANBURGER "Shake Shack"
By DMANBURGER on 3/22/2010
The Basically they slap the patty on a fiery hot flat-top griddle and then smash the patty into the grill, flattening the burger so the little meaty edges tear and break. In those little meaty edges, collects all the grease and yumminess from the seasoned griddle, and caramelizes into a crispy round the edges, soft in the middle, gorgeous burger patty. After its popped on a slightly toasted potato-egg bun and safely wrapped and tucked away in a neat little box. The burger wreaked of flavor and goodness, all kinds of goodness ! The meat and cheese juices oozed down my face which I happily ignored continuing to gorge on this fine specimen of burger handiwork.www.dmanburger.com
The worst, greasy, overcooked and overrated burger ever!

Shake Shack lovers are in general, yuppie lemmings who can't imagine how Danny Meyer could make bad food. His other eateries are excellent, unfortunately fast-food is not his milieu. The milk shake was excellent and since the Shack was named for the shake maybe I'm a little harsh, but then again, NO! The burgers were greasy, small, not very flavorful and overdone. Good meat shouldn't be cooked well done. I know they claim a medium burger, but that's rubbish. The fries aren't awful and the line moved faster than I thought, but these and a chocolate malt aren't anythings to hang your hat on. Better off going to a local diner or if you have the guts, go to Jackson Hole and order a rare bacon/ mushroom burger and smile all the way 'til dessert

shake shack is definitely one of the better hot dogs in nyc. burgers are fine, but extremely overrated. however, better than the burger and reg. hot dog is the bird dog. shakes, concretes, and custards are great. the lines in msp. are too long, but the columbus branch is a much more manageable wait.

I love Danny Meyer's other restaurants., but I have to laugh at the sheeple lined up in Madison Square Park waiting for this ordinary food and thinking about how hip they are. The Park is very nice though.

Shake Shack is incredibly mediocre. You can find this food anywhere.
