Smith and Mills is fabulous and humble, chic and comfortable. The service is excellent--friendly and speedy-- so don't be dissuaded by the dis someone posted. Drinks aren't cheap, but they are on par... and S &M may have the coolest bathroom in NYC.

I don't know what punch you guys were drinking but Alaska (yes I asked her name) is no Debbie Downer. I have taken friends and family to Smith & Mills since day one and she has always been lovely. She said that the whole staff now calls her 'that waitress' after your comments. Poor lamb! Ok, she does say 'like' alot but the sheer genius of Alaska is that she says things such as, "Like that fish is filleted and the Sancerre is like totally crisp!" She is a major foodie and can break down that menu with more gusto than Amy Winehouse can break down a crack pipe. My food was amazing and who doesn't like taking a waz in an elevator? Thumbs up boys!

Decor-nice vibe Drinks -Overpriced at 13 from a bartender who took no pride in his work, and did not make "classic" cocktails correctly. You can be as pretentious as you like when your product is great not average

Great hole in wall and a welcome addition to the Tribeca bar scene, though the space is rather small in size. Drinks are solid, as is the food however, the bizarre black-haired waitress is a major let down and could use some polish in terms of etiquette and professionalism. Overall, thumbs-up for Smith and Mills.

In a neighborhood filled with overpriced and over-sized steak-houses, Smith and Mills is a welcome addition. Sophisticated and low-key, this nook provides the cocktail set with a small-scale destination for quality mixed drinks and hushed conversation. Has the coolness factor like Little Branch with more panache. Smith & Mills is not quite as well-appointed as Brandy Library but the setting certainly has more soul. The Edison light bulbs, tufted banquette wrap-around seating and clever WC-in-an-elevator are details that contribute to the likable quirkiness of this hidden gem. Open late (very late) which certainly adds to the appeal.
