Ambiance is great, service is great, food is superb. This restaurant cannot be topped. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Easily the best kosher restaurant in NYC.

Solo Restaurant is one of if not the best kosher restaurant in the world. The food is sensational and the service extremely attentive. I am a regular lunch diner and come for dinner at least twice a month. I look forward to every visit - there are so many delicious items to choose from you can always have a new and exciting experience at Solo.

I ate at Solo last night and do NOT understand the recent negative reviews. The food was excellent and imaginative (try the chicken in a pot or the lamb). The ambience was VERY pleasant, with widely spaced tables and nice modern (but not austere) decor. The waiter was kind, attentive, and altogether terrific. Yes, the prices are on the high side--this is a Kosher restaurant. If you were looking for a cheap cheeseburger, this is not the place. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. How can a place that gives you a big place of hummus FREE to nosh on while waiting for your food be bad?

I loved solo and it is solo,stands out among the kosher spot,loved the food and the choices warm staff,don't think of leaving. The big meal without trying desserts.

If you haven't tried it, you have not eaten a good american food.I'm not kosher and I promise you I have never been to as good of an establishment .fish is so fresh and the meat is very good,you can spend 100$for your meal or 35$ ,all depends how crazy you want eat. best fish I ever had. I recommend it highly and you need to know good food to appreciate it even more

I made a reservation through http://OpenTable.com for a 5-person lunch for 2:30pm on a Friday at Solo after my graduation. The reservation was made and confirmed on May 29th for a table on June 5th. Two days before my reservation, on June 3d, I received another confirmation from "Solo Reservations" although the email appears to have been sent through an OpenTable email address. On the Friday of my graduation at 11am, in a cap and gown, I received a call from an aloof Solo employee informing me that in fact Solo closes at 2pm on Fridays and my reservation could not be honored. This point could have been made 8 days earlier when the reservation was made, but instead the restaurant waited until 3.5 hours before my reservation to tell me that the restaurant would not even be open. I was left attempting to make reservations for lunch at 2pm on my blackberry instead of being able to enjoy and relish in the experience of graduating. About a week after this ordeal, I wrote an email to Solo through their website - which openly advertises their use of OpenTable - and they didn't even bother to send a response. This restaurant lacks professionalism and basic courtesy. If a restaurant can't even be sure to make sure that the site you use for online reservations has correct hours, and then can't muster up the energy to write an email apologize for their own mistakes in accepting reservations when the restaurant is closed, perhaps new management is needed.

The light wall adds an ambiance and elegance to this ideally located restaurant. Convenience, elegance, and palate-pleasures converge in this Madison Avenue restaurant. The mushroom veloute is a superb example of smplicity in ingredients exploding in sublime flavor, every fish is a winner, and the desserts are a decadent example of what a dessert should be. Business meetings, family gatherings, special dates - go, go, go!
