They alter your credit card slip after you've gone!! I was really shocked to discover that although I clearly stated verbally that my friend was leaving the tip in cash (which she clearly did, and they clearly picked up), and very clearly completed my credit card slip without a tip, the staff actually then changed my credit card slip after we were gone and included ANOTHER 20% tip!!! I pointed out that no-one but the card holder should be writing anything on their credit card slip, and that certainly the restaurant is NOT supposed to amend a customer's credit card slip - that is actually fraud and theft, plain and simple. They argued that they do this all the time (without asking customers) because customers are happy with the restaurant adding on a 20% tip after they have left !!! They seem to have a huge problem in understanding that no, that is NOT normal - nor acceptable - practice!!! In the end, after my complaint to the restaurant and to Visa, the charge was altered to what I had authorized, and then the restaurant had the dishonesty to pretend they never amended the amount in the first place. Visa has confirmed otherwise!!!

If you're looking for a standard neighborhood Pad Thai place, Sookk is not it. In this bright cozy space, you'll find creative and inspired dishes (like my favorite, the Herbal Cinnamon Duck), and interesting cocktails... The only complaint was that most dishes lack a little oompf--when I ate my leftovers they got seasoned with a little dose of salt and sriracha.

I used to frequent this restaurant for both lunches and dinners. While the gruff staff is competent the food was usually good and the prices reasonable. The straw that finally made my wife and I decide to never return was the day the waiter announced, right before our food was brought to the table, that the restaurant would no longer prepare the dish that we had just ordered even though they had routinely prepared it many times in the past. When we asked the waiter why the change he shrugged and said "we're preparing it" and walked away. When we asked for the manager, she came to the table and informed us that "in the future they will only make this dish when they feel like it." Both the waiter and the manager then stood over us making us very uncomfortable and waited for us to express gratitude for the "favor" that they were doing for us by preparing the dish! Going out to eat is supposed to be an enjoyable experience not an uncomfortable and unwelcoming experience. Restaurants are as much about service as they are about food, and the service here suffers greatly.

The best that the city’s restaurants have to offer:
bar food, dumplings, soft serve, tongue, and more.
We live in a city full of small cheap-eats miracles,
