The service was OK, wine list was bare and disorganized. Food was good (with the dessert being the highlight of the meal), but otherwise not worth the price.

Spent a delightful 2 and a half hours here on 9-20-09. Had Polpettine della Nonna (meatballs), Gnocchi Amatriciana (my wife is a superb chef and was awed by the Amatriciana), Rigatoni alla Gricia, and the family special Tonnarelli alla Cuccagna (egg pasta, sausage, pork belly, more). Finished with 3 hand-made gelati. Going back for lunch today. Warm and friendly owners and staff.

I spent my Friday night at Sora Lella. I ordered the caprese salad to start (adventurous, I know) but it came in the most innovative package ever. The tomato aspect was almost like a gelatin (not like jello, not a weird texture), the bufalo mozzarella was served like a panna cotta, melted and reshaped, and the basil aspect came in the form of a delicious pesto. By the way, make sure you treat yourself to a cocktail (order wine if you must, but take my word for it, the cocktails are the star) crafted by the cutie bartender Tomaso. No choking back on bad alcohol or syrupy ingredients here! I had the lychee martini, so well done I couldn't taste the generous amount of alcohol Tomaso poured in. To think of all the awful versions of this drink I had had before and the money wasted up til now! It was lovely and worth every penny.

I'm Italian and I'm always looking for good italian restaurants. This was beyond good. Real recipes from Rome, great quality, friendly owners and super service. I had the S.Valentine special, but I would definitely go back to explore the everyday menu.

I was looking for something like "chianti, montepulciano, merlot," when I asked about red wines by the glass, but the waiter gave an ultra-detailed, yet halting recitation of vintages and vineyards and blends, all rapidly recited in Italian. The two pastas we ordered (spaghetti with clams and fettucine with meat sauce) were incredibly salty and not particularly flavorful in any other way. Two of us ordered scallops and shrimp with artichokes. After quite a wait, the waiter apologized that the shrimp were "off" that night and asked if they could substitute octopus. One of us said yes and was disappointed with the outcome. I switched to lamb chops cooked rare and was presented with three ultra fatty chops, impossible to cut even with a steak knife, with about 1/2 inch of edible meat on each, and accompanied by heavily salted broccoli rabe. The pork chop was minuscule and bland, accompanied by salty, sour cannelini beans. Despite some comped glasses of wine and the offer of limoncello as apology, the four of us were disappointed by inattentive service and really poor food. NOT RECOMMENDED!

On May 27, the evening of pre birthday celebrations with a group my eight ladies we planned a SATC dinner and a movie night. We initially had reservations at a nearby restaurant across the street from Sora Lella & it wasn't long before we knew the staff was not willing to accommodate a last minute change of one extra person in our group. After a few unpleasant & disappointing exchange of words with the rude hostess. We inconveniently left to find a better place elsewhere. Little did we know that we were about to stumble into best hidden gem in Soho. From the moment we were greeted at Sora Lella, we received top notch service. They welcomed us with open arms. We sat right away and before I knew it we had champagne served and menus placed on the table in a snap. we had a little bit of everything. The food was amazing. They treated us like family and made sure that we were happy all the way til the end of our meal. The staff was awesome. Friendly and very knowledgeable of their menu and wine list. I can't say enough on how special they made my birthday. It was truly a positive turn of events and It was meant to be that way. The impression was ever lasting. All my friends loved our waiter & we even got to meet the owner. I loved it so much I went back the next day to personally thank them and stayed for drinks and appetizers with my boyfriend. Don't miss out on incredible italian fine dining. A friendly fun atmosphere goes a long way. I'm be back again. :)
