The entire experience at Southgate is a good one. Located on Central Park South it has lots of local competition from other established big name eateries. Southgate is the best among them. The food is absolutely wonderful. Chef Kerry has done a terrific job with menu and quality of the food. Chef Kerry is usually available to speak with customers and ensure there satisfaction with the different choices on the menu. We had a delicious salad followed by a perfectly cooked steak. Southgate is also an energetic update restaurant with a beautiful design and dining room. A fireplace in the center of the room really adds atmosphere. The staff aims to please and is there to accommodate you. This is the opposite of most snobby restaurants that treat costumers like a number. Lots of positive energy here. I will keep going back to Southgae for a terrific night out.

Discovered this gem during Restaurant Week and have been back three times since. The food, service, ambience (and low noise level) are absolutely wonderful.

One of the best new restaurants in the city. I eat out a lot, but often do I find a place that I could go to over and over. The service is seamless, the drinks are refined, and the food uses the freshest ingredience in conservative, yet inventive ways that have to leave you nothing but impressed. Too bad word hasn't really gotten out about it yet; I hope it does well.
