Poor experience, food is alright, but not worth the price given the other steak houses in the City. Waiter forgot half of our group's appetizers, and then didn't really apologize (let alone offer to buy us a drink, desert, etc.). He proceeded to get things wrong with our entree and subsequent drink orders. The food is fine, not really good or great. I would not tell any of my friends to go here given all of the other good places to get a steak.

<b><font color=navy> I have always come in a casual suit (no tie ever). I read some reviews that were ridiculous. I have been to ever steakhouse worth mentioning and dollar for dollar the best steak for the money. OK, so if you think the meal here is expensive then you couldn't possibly be a native NYer. No one has a better mozzarella and tomato - the shrimp cocktails are Godzilla sized and of course the sirloin is the one to have if you are a 1st timer there. Personally I enjoy the sliced steak as much as the Sirloin but, hey, that's my choice My sister in law totally freaked me out when she decided to order lobster - I was almost offended "I MEANT WTF, You are in a steakhouse!". I will tell You readers this, Lobster in drawn butter rates very high on my list (No, I don't keep kosher - hehe) and eating lobster on a steakhouse just doesn't fit in my list of things to do. I ate my words, my sister-in-law rolled here eyes and said, WOW! I thought she was just exaggerating since we ate plenty of Lobster in other places. I took a bite and I was in shock. Old world decor and service is what you would expect from a traditional NYC Steakhouse. As per dress codes...this is my take on this. The average folk that goes there are not snobs but business people and true Steak eating citizens. Show a little respect for your neighbor and dress clean with a button down shirt and slacks, Wear the jeans for Peter Lugers - I mean it!!!

If you like steak, this is a great place to go. Easily you can split your portions and still have plenty. The creamed spinach was way oversalted, making it almost unedible. The potatoes were great however and the salads were also good. Great wine selection and service. Fun place to go with out of towners who ask for steak. It has that "old, male-dominated bully" decor.

Simply the best steak I have ever tasted...My wife made our reservation as a treat for my birthday, the service was fantastic, the steak was as previous reviews have stated SIMPLY MELT IN THE MOUTH....the vegetables were a plenty and beautifully cooked, the wine list was extensive. Yes you would be correct in thinking that Sparks is not the cheapest option in NY, but who cares when you get food as good as this unbeatable...FANTASTIC..!!

The sirloin steak here is magnificent. Skip Wolfgang's and head here.

A sirloin to die for, simply the best all around steakhouse in the cosmos

Typical, if you want the best, you have to go to New York to get it, and when it comes to a prime sirlion, Sparks is second to none. My wife and I live in suburban Philadelphia, but spend as much time as we can in NYC. Our many trips are never complete without having dinner at Sparks.

One of the great steak houses of NY, if not the best. The service is excellent and gracious. The steaks melt in your mouth. If you are not a steak eater, the lobster, shrimp and various fish entrees are excellent. Don't forget the sides, especially the creamed spinach. Leave room for the desserts. A real winner all the way around.

This is where the big boys come to play for a hearty helping of NYC's finest strip steak! Excellent wine list to complement the macho protein fare. If my cardioligist ever found out how many times I go here, he'll kill me!!!
