Great Food for a Great Price

We had heard great things about Spice regarding its reasonably priced and high quality Thai dishes. Overall, the experience fulfilled--maybe even surpassed--our expectations. Although the exterior does not grab one's attention, the interior's post-modern dark decor was fashionably cool, yet seemed relatively inexpensive to design. To start of our meal, we ordered the Jade Seafood Dumplings--several green dumplings filled with shrimp & crab meat in a massaman sauce. They were cooked perfectly: soft and chewy on the outside, and the sauce was delicious! We followed the waiter's recommendations and ordered the Thai Volcanic Chicken and Grilled Salmon for our main courses. The chicken was well presented as the waiter crept up behind us (maybe not such a good idea) and poured a flaming marinade onto the dish. The salmon was surprisingly savory with a mild spice kick. Spice is a wonderful neighborhood gem!

Spice has a lot of good lunch offers when its not as packed as at night. This place is always crowded so be sure you are ready to wait before you can have your meal. Food is good for the price you are paying.

If you're looking for a large variety of Thai dishes at incredibly reasonable prices (especially for New York!), Spice is definitely the place to go. Unfortunately, the amazing value has attracted hundreds of hungry patrons who crowd the place no matter what time of day. As long as you don't mind a bit of shouting across the dinner table, Spice is a great find for flavorful entrees and warp-speed service.

I have had a love affair with this place ever since I met up w/ some friends here for a last minute Sat.-night dinner. This joint is ALWAYS jumping; packed wall-to-wall, expect a bit of a wait and some frantic-ness. But the food is superb and a value you can't beat. Appetizers run you no more than $4 or $5 and the entrees average about $10/$11. The curry puffs are golden and flavorful, veggie dumplings moist, duck crispy and rich and all curries are to die. I have never had a bad experience here save for one take-out trip where they screwed up my order. But other than that, A+'s all around!

This place is always busy, with a young, hip crowd. The decor and furnishings are trendy and there is quite a buzz about. The food is excellent, huge portions and good value for money. The only disappointing part was the service. People who arrived after us were served their entire meal before we had even been served our appetisers. They must have lost our order. We had at least 4 different waiters which seemed to add to the confusion. I am reliably informed that meals are usually served pronto, so I will definitely give this place the benefit of the doubt, besides, the food served here is great, when it eventually came!

Spice is an amazing place to eat, especially lunch. The appetizer is free for lunch, and you can usually get food and a drink for around $8. The atmosphere is incredibly chic, though seating can be tight. Try to avoid late nights, as it can get crowded. Also the service can be a tad bit slow at times. But overall, it's well worth the money, and the food is great. Two thumbs up!
