If you consider going to Spitzers don't forget to bring your ID. I recently went to meet some friends. I forgot my ID and despite some pleading (I am married, late 20's) would not be let in. Fair enough. However, for some unexplainable reason, the bouncer still would not let me look whether my friends were there or not. I recall the bouncers, bar and waitresses being just as difficult and rude, making sure to check your stamp on your arm and ID (they think the joint is an exclusive club). Pity as on previous visits the food was good, but I am never going back there.

drunk frat boys spilled a pint of beer on my husband after 5 minutes of being there. our food took 35 minutes to come out. and when it did, it was below sub par. fries are better at mcdonald's, and my neighborhood diner's burger is far better. asparagus tempura spears...did someone forget them in the deep frier?! both server & manager gave us the run around as to why - the party next to us ordered the same thing and their food took 7 minutes...we counted. ordered a shot after the spillage incident and they didn't even offer to comp it, but that's besides the point. nor did they rush out with napkins or a bar rag. oh - and did you know there's a back room for seating for dinner? neither did we because no one offered us the option. NEVER GOING BACK. the beers aren't even that big of a deal - i can go anywhere and find what they offer there. without the bs.

The service was great, attentive wait staff and bar tenders. Over 40 beers on tap and just as many bottles. The food was really tasty and reasonably priced for dinner. (and if you get the kobe burger, don't be scared if it's pink inside, that's just how kobe beef cooks, and its fantastic!) Picked this place for a dinner and drinks night with a rather large group (7 people). At 8:45 obviously the wait was long took within an hour and half which the hostess predicted. (no bullshit there, which I liked). The beer list is amazingly extensive! They boast 90 beers half on tap I believe. There was alot, to say the least. The decor isn't fancy, but I loved the wooden tables and large open windows. It did start getting really rowdy around 11. But everywhere on Rivington and Ludlow gets like that on a Saturday. In general the experience was a good pick! I'd go back, I think a lunch, middle of the day trip will be my next choice.

I adore this place. However, the awesome Rosemary Popcorn is not on the menu any longer. I've visited spitzer's 15-20 times for any meal of the day (brunch/lunch, dinner, drunk binge). The burgers are great, the mac n cheese rules and you cant go wrong with the brunch entrees. However, to my dismay, I went for brunch yesterday and the service was not what I am used to. We were completely ignored by our waitress who seemed to hold a grudge because we ordered booze accidently prior to the 12pm sunday cutoff - woops sorry lady, I come to spitzers for alcohol...it is a bar too ya know. Nevertheless, we did enjoy our lunch despite the if-fy service. Just don't let yourself get sat at the blonde in the backs table unless you came for some solitude...and hydration deprivation.

This is an awesome little pub! Only beer and wine, but the BEST beer and wine. The food is way above of what was expected from a fun little casual type restaurant! Sitting at long tables with people that are first strangers, than by the end of your dinner, are your best friends! Oh, yeah....did I mention that the food was awsome!

We had the "French Kisses" which were good, the Beet Salad good but needed far more beets, Mac N' Cheese very good, and Kobe Burger which may have been good if it had been cooked...I ordered it medium and the thing came out so bloody it was practically twitching. Service is friendly and efficient and the decor is cool. The crowd is very dudey, which with all the beers and such should be expected, but not always appreciated.

This restaurant experience was so good that I registered for NYMag.com just so I could review it. I went with my fiancee and had a truly memorable meal, along with great beer, for a reasonable NY price. The food service was a little slower than we would have wanted, but it was in the end worth the wait. Recommended items: crispy veggies, spring salad, soft shell crab poboy, and the best mac & cheese we've ever had. We will definitely go back. Again and again.

This is a great bar on a street of great bars. I don't know how many beers they have on draught, but it's a lot. Most of which have fantastic names: it's fun ordering a Smutty Nose Ale or an Old Arrogant Bastard. The place gets busy but only in a good way - nice crowd of young, cool professionals, no fratty types looking to hit or be hit on. Perfect after work or on a casual weekend. Great fries, too.
