Unwelcoming staff sets the tone

We were put off initially by the bored, apathetic and dismissive attitude of the hostess who took her time showing up at the hostesss station. After a long wait for a table, we were offered a partial menu of oddly conceived food. Although the decor is charming, the Spotted Pig is anything but. It does not live up to its reviews.

we arrived at 1pm, no wait, no line, no fuss. The staff was great - the hostess had a great sense of humour and our waiter was very helpful. We had the cubano & the burger both were great as were the shoestring fries. Too full for dessert. Bottle of sparkling, 2 glasses of wine, cubano & buger with fries were 66$. Not bad - would go back for sure.

I went to spotted pig last tuesday with a friend, the restaurant was packed, but the wait was manageable, especially because the bar has excellent drinks ( the bloody mary is one of the best i've tried) We waited for about 45 minutes and were seated upstairs, and although our neighbors were a bit noisy, the cluttered and clamorous dining room is all part of the experience. It's a very lively spot, with quick and efficient service, and incredible food. I had the quail which was expertly cooked and very juicy, my friend had the burger which is one of their most popular dishes. The wine list is also very extensive and features reasonably priced bottles. overall spotted pig is a gem of a restaurant and a great place to take friends or a date!

I was looking forward to my dinner at Spotted Pig, but it was terrible. The food was super salty, lacked taste and whoever actually liked the food beyond the hamburger has very average expectations. I didn't mind waiting the hour and a half, but we ordered several small plates and bar snacks that were all unsatisfying dishes. It was over priced, yet underwhelming. Above all, the beer is warm; do not go there.

Disappointing. I will admit my first mistake was going on a Friday night. The crowd is there to drink. The wait was fine downstairs since people were having a nice time at the bar but as soon as we were seated upstairs things went downhill. We were on the edge of a terrible bar crowd (not the fun kind) and the waitress would not give us the time of day. When the food arrived, the bacon wrapped prunes were soggy and the burger - which they are apparently famous for - was so salty that it was practically inedible. Depressing... and then you get the bill.

My wife and I strolled by the Spotted Pig last Sunday and for once there wasn't a line to get in and lightning struck twice when a window table for two by the bar was available. The bistro's classy, comfy, cool atmosphere, a well poured pint and a Hell of a hamburger made for a sensational Sunday supper. Furhtermore The Spotted Pig is snout ant tails above the its notable neighbor, the Rusty Knot's pricey faux dive bar experience and juke box that needs to be thrown into the river, before another unsuspecting customer is subjected to Billy Joel's maudlin musings again. Though I'd still never wait to get into the Spotted Pig, or anywhere for that matter, I look forward to the next chance to stroll in and dine at this sublime swine.

The food was over-salted and not fresh. It made my girlfriend sick. What a waste of time and money. This restaurant is a good place to be from!!
