No onion allowed for my client's burger

I took 2 very important clients to lunch and was appalled at the service, food and attitude. These clients practically own Manhattan, they are extremely influential. The attitude of the staff was appalling and they wouldn't give a slice of onion for my clients burger as they only "take away not add on to their dishes." Quoted by our sour waiter. Yeah in these times we all need help from our friends and if you cant have a simple burger without attitude than loser is the name.

I had read about the "Spotted Pig" in many restaurant reviews. Was planning on having B-day dinner there. The wait was over on hour which was fine. Went upstairs for drinks but couldn't get anyone to serve us. Went over to the bar where the bartender "Elvis Costello" seemed bothered and annoyed by having to pour our drinks. A shame as I really looked forward to dinner. Left after one drink..won't be going back. Fire Elvis Costello...his Ego is bigger than all of NYC.

The burger was flavorful and the shoestring fries were amazing. I loved the chicken liver toast. Atmosphere was great and the tables allowed for conversation without yelling. Service was also superb. http://thethirstyfoodie.blogspot.com

I dont know if it was only our food - or if everyone in the entire restaurant was drunk - but everything, from pasta to french fries, was so salty it was inedible. I was really, really looking forward to this meal and was was sadly disappointed when even the food was just terrible. Sounds like Batali needs to get himself in there every once in a while to make sure his name wont get dragged through the mud. Come on man! You're better than this.

I've never gotten the obsession with this place. Their burger are average and shoe string fries?!? Ugh! So awkward to eat, greasy and all over the place. I had oysters there last night and have a few times in the past, they are also fairly average and skimpy. The brussel sprouts were BARELY edible. Biting into them was like a soggy, salty ball of butter exploding in your mouth. Not to mention, the place is filled with bankers that think they're cool for going, and older people. I'm just astounded at the poor quality of food and if this place has a Michelin Star...well I think they need to hire better investigators. If you want a real burger, go to Little Owl. If you want oysters, go to Pearl. If you want good food and you are in that neighborhood, go to Barbuto.

Spotted Pig is worth the wait. I think it delivers, but it is slightly over rated. We all hated sitting on the stools with no backs. We know, we know it is a pub! The pork cheek appetizer was divine, the burger was quite good, and the string fries were well seasoned and delicious. All 4 of us found the food somewhat overly fatty and greasy. Make this a must stop after cocktails, or when you want high quality food in a loud pub atmosphere.

Came early for lunch and the place was moderately empty. Nevertheless we were told to wait until our table was "ready". I asked if we couldn't just sit at one of the many open tables and the hostess responded with "I think I've already answered that." Nice. We went somewhere else.

Food is good, but everyone goes because of its location and atmosphere. It generates a good, young crowd, order the gnudi, devils on horseback, lentil salad, burger with shoestring fries. Try and sit upstairs, heads up line can be over an hour during dinner but sometimes worth the wait, Sunday night is a good time to go!

after much anticipation, my husband & i finally made it over to the spotted pig for dinner. the wait was not bad for a saturday night, but the seating is horrible. we had literally 3-4 inches of space between us and the next table on either side. i ordered the halibut dish which was THE most disgusting fish dish i've ever had, almost tasted like mediocre wedding reception food. with the first bite, i could tell the fish was very old. my husband had the hamburger which was ordered medium-well, but it was basically still raw & cold in the middle. we left completely unsatisfied. both tables on each side of us had sticker shock when they got the check...yes, you can hear everything, you're that close!

We were put off initially by the bored, apathetic and dismissive attitude of the hostess who took her time showing up at the hostesss station. After a long wait for a table, we were offered a partial menu of oddly conceived food. Although the decor is charming, the Spotted Pig is anything but. It does not live up to its reviews.
