I came here for my sister's birthday with a group of her friends. Every time we asked about the reservation, the hostesses told us our table was being prepared for us, which was clearly a lie. They also said that they could not give us an estimated time of seating. Finally, after waiting forty-five minutes for a table, we asked for the manager, who was incredibly rude and condescending. His attitude colored the rest of the evening. If management budgeted more time per reservation (e.g. assumed that each party would take one and a half hours instead of one hour), this backlog could be easily averted without adversely affecting business. Maybe it is a purposeful move to make the restaurant appear busier or more exclusive than it actually is. The caliber of the food here does not remotely make up for the incompetent management. Go to a restaurant that cares about your experience.

I went there about 2 weeks back on a Saturday evening with a party of 10 after having made reservations in advance. It was my sister's birthday party. We all reached there in time as advised and were shocked to hear that they only had a table for 8. They wanted 2 of us to sit separately. Given that it was a Saturday evening and we couldn't have found another place last minute, we asked that at least 4 of us be seated together but they refused to accommodate. The manager was so rude that he didn't even want to acknowledge the hostess' mistake in confirming our reservation when there were no tables available. The guy completely ruined our mood. Overall, the waitress was nice, food was great but the manager seriously needs to fix his attitude. I am probably never going there again. All he had to do was to be apologetic for their mistake but he refused to do so.

I had six friends visiting from out of town and couldn't wait to take them to staton social. I made 9:30pm reservations on 1/15/11. We arrived on time. I walked up near the hostess with black hair and waited patiently for her to finish helping a customer. We made eye contact and I waited. She finished helping the customer and looked down at the computer. Another customer walked in and she looked up and helped her. The customer looked at me and apologized for cutting in. So I moved right in front of the hostess. Nothing. She looked back down at her computer. I was starting to wonder if I was invisible. She looked up a few times again to see if anyone else walked in. Finally I said, "excuse me, are you going to help me?" and she gave me this stuck-up reply, "yea, yea, sure". Never had I been treated so rudely in my life. I raved about this place to everyone and anyone, but her attitude made me lose my appetite that night. Thanks to her I will never come back. Staton social, you need to definitely reevaluate your hostess staff because they are the first person to encounter once a customer walks in and that impression makes your establishment look bad whether your food is amazing or not. I was incredibly appalled. Thanks hostess for taking this place off my list. You need to find a new job.

The food was fun and in some cases, like the orecchiette with rabbit sausage, excellent. But the overall experience was a disappointment. Service: We were rushed from the minute we sat down even though there were several empty tables the entire time we were there. We ordered 6 different items for the two of us. Although the menu explains the plates will arrive steadily, we weren't expecting to be bombarded with multiple plates at once. Our small table got crowded and the food started getting cold before we could get to it. As soon as we took the last bit off a plate, a busboy would swoop in to remove it. Twice, we had to stop him because there was dipping sauce or topping that we were still eating. All six of our dishes were served in less than half an hour. We ordered dessert, espresso, and armagnac, which were delivered all at once, with the check. Someone then came by every few minutes to check if we had put out a credit card yet, even though we were still eating. Atmosphere: The music was incredibly loud and bad. Really bad. When we mentioned this to the hostess on the way out (in a friendly way), she was rude and said it had worked for 5 years and wasn't going to be changed. Crowd: Mainly large groups of co-workers who wanted to get drunk and were probably relieved not to be able to talk to one another. Generally, a very boring crowd that felt more midtown than LES. If you are looking for tapas, Alta in the West Village is a much better place.

I was so impressed with the decor and my pink grapefruit mint cocktail that I thought nothing could go wrong. Yeah...not the case. The scallops were served with overcooked rice. I'm a scallop lover and could only stomach one. The hanger steak was bland. I don't think it even had salt on it same with the mac and cheese. And the chicken and waffles were inedible. Have a cocktail and go somewhere else.

Lovely cocktails and decent bartender....just chat them up and they'll be responsive! Had a pineapple/vanilla martini while my girlfriends each had the spritzer. Refreshing and the seating at the upstairs bar was comfy and pretty.

The previous week a friend had booked a table at the Stanton Social for a party of four. Upon arrival (on time) we were told that our table was not ready and that it would be ready in 15 minutes, after exploring every other table related option we were told we could have a drink upstairs and wait it out. After 35 minutes of waiting and numerous visits to check on the progress with the table we left to find a restaurant interested in providing us with a service. The main issue I have with our experience at SS was the attitude of the hostess, she lacked common courtesy, made no effort to keep us updated and showed no signs of any basic social skills. This place seriously needs to review it's hiring/training process for customer facing staff.

It takes getting past the overly trendy ambiance and almost oddly rude hostesses to appreciate the stanton social, but appreciate you will when you try the food. Most of plates are well portioned, and every time I return i try something new that I enjoy. The french onion soup dumplings are a must, in addition to the crab cake corn dogs. For desserts, the warm doughnuts with the dipping sauces will blow you away. Everything about the meal itself is worth a return trip, just be prepared to push your way in and to have to speak very loudly over the music.

I love this place! I live across the street and go here very often - never had a bad dish or cocktail in the several dozen times I've been. If you like spicey margaritas, they make a truly superb one - a really good blood orange margarita with jalapeno infused tequila. If tequila isn't your preferred poison, their other drinks are also delicious. As for the food, the French Onion Soup Dumplings are quite unique and rather tasty - definitely have a try! Equally creative and delicious, the Stone-Ground Blue Corn Crabcake Corn Dogs also satisfy a curious palate. But if there's one dish that's a must, the Kobe Beef Sliders are a clear crowd pleaser, especially if you're there mainly to socialize than to eat (ie you're seated upstairs in, what believe, is the perfect embodiment of what a lounge should look like) - they are little succulent 'beef clouds' of heavan!
