On my last visit to NYC I was told by a friend to check this place out. I was there on business and I was really impressed with the area (before we even made it into the restaurant). The decor was ideal for a business dinner but more to the point the food was great. Main reason for the review though was the great service we had..As an outsider I'm getting sick of NYC restaurants taking advantage but these guys couldn't have been more different. I had the chowder and the chicken for main and was really pleased. No desert but they looked pretty impressive.

Well, I have eaten at Stella Maris now 5 times and it has only gotten better and better. The Menu is amazing creative there are always new things on offer. All I can say is the Chef has a vision and that is very clear. The service is fab, u always feel like a celebrity when you go in there. The attention to detail is very impressive. I have been in the restaurant business for many years and this place is refreshing, i could go and say "it is like a breath of fresh air" All and all I would / do recommend this great restaurant to all, it is a crowd pleaser.......

My husband and I, and our infant daughter, often dine at Stella Maris and we have never had a bad experience. The restaurant itself is fabulous, very modern and stylish, without being pretentious. The staff is always super attentive and friendly. And the food is amazing. We usually go there for dinner, or in the evening, or go to the coffee bar next to the restaurant and have always enjoyed the food. Can't recommend it enough. It's a welcome addition to the neighbourhood.

I live in the neighborhood. The other night my wife and I wanted to go out for a nice dinner so we chose a somewhat famous nearby steakhouse. The food was good but the service was horrible especially knowing how much we were spending. So we decided to grab dessert and coffee somewhere else. We chose Stella Maris and our experiences at the two restaurants could not have been any more different. Stella Maris' staff treated us like kings. Everyone was so nice and cheerful. I joked with my wife that they must have mistaken us for celebrities. When our desserts arrived we saw that they had included samples of other desserts we hadn't ordered. I would definitely try their peanut butter galette. We were so impressed with the service, food and environment that we've made it a regular spot for lunch and dinner. We've never been disappointed. They also have a great brunch, however, I do wish they would open before noon.

The food was great. I've eaten at Stella Maris on many occasions. From the Lamb Shank to the Salmon, everything was very flavourful. The food is packed with fresh flavors that are simply a delight. The service was great. For the prices and level of food and service I say it is a great value. The atmosphere is really nice and calm. Perfect for any occasion. I highly recommend it. It has a very upscale feel without the high prices. Also, it's a great way to experience the downtown seaport area.
