From beginning to end, this was truly a pleasurable dining experience. Upon walking in, you are enveloped by the decor - an interesting mix of classy and sexy. You just feel cool. True to its name, the steaks (the rib chop was excellent)are as good as they come in Manhattan. But it's OK to stray into the specials...my date's venison was out of this world. You should sample the side dishes, especially the black truffle cream spinach, the lobster bisque and the goose fat potatoes. The dessert takes the cake...literally. The 12-layer chocolate cake is sinful -- the best I've ever had. I recommend sharing as the portions are quite healthy. The service is attentive and very knowledgeable about their menus (both food and wine). Definitely pricey, but it's worth treating yourself at a place like this...

An adult environment, with considered service, great decor, flattering lighting and above all, meats for unrepentant carnivores. Leave room for dessert though!

The good news first: Strip House was good. The bad news: Strip House was good... and that's it. For a place bent on satisfying hungry carnivores, Strip House comes up shamefully short. The interior is fun...but also a bit cheap looking. In fact, the entire vibe is cheap--and way way overpriced for the value. I ordered the strip steak. It was cooked all right, but the meat was a bit rubbery and--I dunno--not organic, grass-fed? Maybe there is something to that whole thing. My co-pilot ordered the filet and it was way overcooked. Bottom line: for $45 steaks, go somewhere else.

I was recommended to eat here on our last night in New York before my family and I came back home to the UK. I was a bit concerned by the negative reviews on the service and working in the trade I'm pretty unforgiving about poor service and stuck-up staff. Happily the service was bordering on perfect; just the right balance of being friendly, welcoming and professional. The bread, steaks, herb fries and the 24 layer chocolate cake were all stars, my daughter was even showing her friends pictures of the cake as soon as we got home! All they need to do now is simplify some of the food and let the flavours speak for themselves. A super evening, thanks!

It's hard to enjoy a steakhouse meal as you feel the beads of sweat draw momentum as they descend your torso. The night we went, the joint was seemingly typically packed, and it was uncomfortably warm. We mentioned it to staff, and a manager looking bloke told us that the air wasn't working that night and sorry. Thanks ... I think. Nothing was comped following complaint. Food was delicious, but place was uncomfortable.

The decor, a little tacky, but goes with the theme. Suprisingly roomy as from the outside, you seem unsure. The room just opens up as you walk past the coatcheck/entrance/bar. Our waiter was a little overbearing, almost snotty and pretentious, but I'll give him credit, he DID warm up at the very end. (But I must give credit to my date for that one.) The oysters on the half were great, everything else was mediocre. I left happy and satisfied, but not exactly knocked off my feet.

I used to love this place. But the quality of the food has really fallen off. Your money is better spent elsewhere. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood I like to have a drink at the bar but they make it very difficult to just get a snack. It's really too bad. I had the worst time trying to find something on the menu I wanted to eat. And when I ordered the fish it came out completely overcooked and room temperature. My friend got the truffle macaroni and cheese, as we were just looking for something small. So not worth the price. And truffle oil. Really? I have eaten here many times and have ordered the steak, a NY Strip and was so disappointed I never want to have steak there again. The bottom line is there are just so many places to get a good steak in NY I don't see how this place can stay in business much longer.

Come on, now! The meat is by far NOT the best in NYC, the service is absolutely terrible, and the wait times are laughable. Reservations are just a built in excuse to spend more money at the bar.
