I recently dined at Supper after having heard good reviews of the place but I was in for a harsh dissappointment. After being made to wait 20 minutes for a table (the restaurant was at least half empty) by a bitchy hostess, we were treated to horrific service. Our waiter made us wait over and over again, was unaccomodating, and just simply unpleasant. We might have overlooked this had the food been tasty but it was at best bland. I left the restaurant shortly thereafter hungry as I left my plate untouched after the first bite. Do not be lured by the crowd pleasing decor, eat elsewhere.

I've eaten here a few times and -- apart from a weird chewy pork sausage I ended up with once -- I've always enjoyed myself. However, I warn you not to be tempted to eat at tables in the bar half of the restaurant. Service was godawful. The d#ckhead serving us tried to force us to order the second he handed us the menu. When we declined, he disappeared for half an hour before returning and saying, "What you want?" Our dishes were not properly cleared, so our empty salad plates and bread plates were stacked on the table when the pasta arrived. I don't need to detail the entire debacle, but the point is that they just are not set up to serve over there. Stay away. But the food was good!

Great food if you get past the nasty, bitchy hostess

I've eaten there quite a few times and the food is really good the atmosphere inside is warm and friendly. I love to sit at the counter and watch them cook the food, it's beautiful. Outside is another story... Someone should inform the hostess that it's a restaurant, not a bar with a velvet rope. That she is a hostess, not goddess. Also, that being kind is always more attractive than being nasty, and a bad attitude is not stimulating to the appetite, nor to business. Now I only go when I don't see her outside, she's so rude.

I went there with my partner and had an EXCELLENT brunch outside. We loved the place, we loved the ambience, the waiters (all mexicans/latino) were VERY friendly and efficient, it was crowded but food arrived within 15 minutes after we ordered. I had poached eggs over grilled polenta with slices of prosciutto which was REALLY delicious! My partner had French Toasts, I don't have a real sweet tooth but I tried and loved it, as he did. We will be there soon, actually I want to try their dinner menu, which sounds very tempting. I am Italian born and raised and VERY fundamentalist with Italian food, so I am the perfect judge! Absolutely recommendable!

I have tried to go here twice and both times have been so put off by the hostess that I will make no more attempts. Why a restaurant would not even have a bar where you can have a few drinks while you wait for a table is beyond me. Apparently this is part of their "regular seating". I love Frank's and Lil Frankie's, but I will pass on Supper.

I tried to put my name in for a table while waiting for my girlfriend, but they wouldn't take my name or seat me without her. Twenty minutes later when she showed up, we couldn't get a table for two on a Thursday night at 615 despite the fact that the place was completely empty (one of the two tables upstairs was visibly unoccupied). We were told we would have to sit at the bar or at the communal table because they "just didn't have anything for us". We left and went to Max where they didn't have any problems seating us at our own table immediately and with no condescending BS.

This is a rare find in New York: an inexpensive restaurant that offers wonderful food and atmosphere. The perfect inexpensive restaurant. Rich Italian food and warm atmosphere. Service has always been friendly, although the crowds can make the dining a bit chaotic. Overall a great dining experience and a tremendous value.

Supper scored a home run for a casual catch up with a friend mid-week. There is a hidden downstairs section - albeit quieter than upstairs - but perfect for good conversation over great food and wine. We only ordered from the "specials" menu - branzino, beef barolo and tagliatelle - all of which were excellent. Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and yet not overbearing given the intimate space. Can't wait to go back.

This is a safe choice if you are looking for a decent restaurant to bring your friends for a Friday dinner. Cosy ambiance, but a little loud to bring a date.

Take my advice on this one ... "young hipsters" (oh my god, when did I get old enough to say that?) will look at you funny. They may resort to pointing and making comments, which, by all means, does not detract from the excellent food and wonderful set-up. I wanted a bargain italian feast, but two slices of prociutto and parmesian for ten dollars ... it made me think ... not here ... not now. All in all, I imagine this is a wonderful restaurant to eat at ... while wearing elastic jeans (I am joking! - really!)
